Fancy Friday #167 – Recreate your first nail art

Happy Friday. Today we are recreating our first nail art. I chose the nail art I did for the very first Fancy Friday many many Fridays ago. I updated it a little bit, and I think it turned out so good.

Here is the original manicure, and just click here, to be taken to the original blogpost.

I have two coats of China Glaze First Mate on my index and pinky, and two studs. I switched the sides I placed them on. On my middle I have three coats of Barry M Sky Blue, because I destashed the Essence polish I used. Instead of the rhinestones I did a little stamping using MoYou London Pro XL14 and MoYou London White Knight. On my ring finger I have three coats of Kiko 294 Indigo and some round blue iridescent glequins from BornPrettyStore.

I dag skal vi genskabe vores første nail art. Jeg har genskabt den første Fælles Fredag manicure jeg lavede, dog opdaterede jeg den lidt, med noget stamping i stedet for de rhinsten jeg havde på en af neglene.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 14 Gradient

Today’s theme is gradient. A couple of months ago I saw a video by PackaPunchPolish on YouTube, with a water marble and gradient. I loved the look and saved it in my inspiration folder on my computer. So when I saw today’s theme I immediately knew what I was going to do.

VDSC_0775

I started with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow and after letting it dry completely I put a piece of tape over half on my ring and pinky nail. I applied a liquid latex barrier around my nails, to help with clean up. I then sponged out 4 coats of China Glaze Feel The Breeze and Peonies and Park Ave.

VDSC_0780

I removed the tape to expose the white half of the nail, and then applied round silver studs from BornPrettyStore down the center of my ring and pinky fingers. On the remaining nails where I did a full gradient I stamped on flamingos with MoYou London Tropical 05 and Depend White stamping polish. The look is super summery and makes my skin look really tan despite me not being in the sun since August.

VDSC_0760

OhMyGoshPolish on YouTube loves doing nail art with neons and then filming them under black light, so I pulled out my LED light and took some photos under the light. I think they look so cool glowing.

Bonus shot of my thumb. The flamingos look almost purple here and the darker pink really glows under black light. I will definitely remember to check my nails under a black light when using neons.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 8 Green

Today’s theme is green. I was partly inspired for this manicure by the name of the polish I chose to use.

VDSC_0684

I decided to use Picture Polish Honeymoon by Manicurator. At first I wanted to do chevrons on all of my nails, but then I was inspired by the name to also incorporate something wedding-y. For the negative space single chevron on my ring and thumb I used NailVinyls and three coats of Honeymoon. I added studs from BornPrettyStore. On the rest of my fingers I also did three coats of Honeymoon and then stamped with MoYou London Bridal 07 and Depend White Stamping polish.

VDSC_0694

Honeymoon is a really pretty minty green polish with blue/pink shimmer and scattered holographic bits. I really like this polish and the contrast between the studs and the lace stamp was fun.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 1 Glitter

Happy first of April and the first day of the challenge. The first theme is glitter.

challenge photo

As soon as I saw the theme I knew what I was going to do. A couple of months ago I saw a video by Sam from PackAPunchPolish using round glitter and doing glitter placement. I ordered mine from BornPrettyStore. You get 12 pots for 7.60$. The pots are not that big, but contain a lot of glitter. I could not even tell that I did five nails with this one. I used two coats of OPI Black Onyx for the base.

VDSC_0640

To place the glitter I added a coat of slow drying topcoat to some of my nail and started with the glitter line in the middle. I used a wax pen to pick up and place the glitter on the nail, staggering the glitter. I did the same thing Sam is doing in the video, so check that I out 🙂 I did two coats of topcoat to seal everything in completely.

VDSC_0647

It took about 50 minutes to complete five fingers. My neck, hands, legs and bottom hurt when I was done, so I just added a gold glitter polish to my right hand instead of doing the glitter placement there as well.

VDSC_0632

Bonus shot of my nails with flash. Because of the holographic effect in the glitter, it looked like my nails were covered with lights that twinkled, when I moved them around. I will probably not do a full hand again anytime soon, but an accent nail or two will look just as cool.

Fancy Friday #72 – Decorated edges

Happy friday. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things, since I’m at school every day of the week. Luckily in about a month I will have to days off, making it much easier to balance school and doing homework. Last year, when we were playing with studs, I did a framed nail using studs and bullions. I immediately thought of that nail art when I saw the theme for today.

VDSC_0145

I pulled out my glequins, and decided on the holographic silver ones from Born Pretty Store. I began with three coats of Colors by Llarowe – Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, which is supposed to be a dupe for Essie Starry Starry Night. I then used a bit of base coat and a dotting tool to pick up and place the glequins around the edge of my nail. I decided to leave the tip of my nail free.

VDSC_0150

It took about 20 minutes to do both hands, so it’s not too time consuming, but the effect is really cool. It can be varied, with different base colors and glitter colors. I think a white nail with rainbow colors could be really cool. Click on the blue blob to see how the other ladies was inspired by decorated edges.
