Fancy Friday #170 – Ocean

Happy Friday. Today the theme is the ocean, specifically the Mediterranean.

I found a manicure I hadn’t posted yet, that fit into this theme. I used two coats of Barry M Sky Blue and two coats of Revlon Whimsical. The color represent the ocean, while the blue and pink glitter can be the seashells. The white stamping is how the sunlight catches the reflection of the water. The stamping is from the Bundle Monster XL16 plate.

Fancy Friday #149 – Fun and games

So I had no clue about todays theme, so I didn’t have a chance to do something new for this week. It’s April Fool’s day, so that inspired me a bit as well as the fun part of the challenge. I found some old manicures I hadn’t shown yet, so that will have to do for today.

The first manicure is done with Picture Polish Fool’s Gold and Zoya Vega. I stamped on top with Depend White Stamping Polish and Bundle Monster XL24. The name Fool’s Gold reminded me of April Fool’s.

This is a really old manicure, back from 2012. This was the manicure I wore for my birthday that year. What is more fun than a birthday? I used Sally Hansen Be-Jeweled and Color Club Eternal Beauty.

The last manicure, is my 4th of July manicure from last year. I love celebrating 4th of July, the food, fireworks and spending time with my family. This year I’m flying into Boston on the 4th, so hopefully we will get to see some fireworks. I used China Glaze First Mate on my index and stamped white stars from Bundle Monster XL23, the middle is Orly Star Spangled and the white stripes are also from the XL23 plate. On the ring finger I have the american flag hand painted. The pinky is OPI Alpine Snow and Dollish Polish It’s a Me Mario.

Fancy Friday #129 – Double stamping

Today we are doing double stamping, I have previously done both double and triple stamping with the same and different patterns. I really like the effect, stamping the same pattern twice can give. I was inspired for this manicure by Love Varnish, who have a similar color scheme in her double stamping manicure.

I started out with two coats of OPI Hello Hawaii Ya? as the base. I looked at all of my stamping plates, and decided on the Bundle Monster XL17 plate. I used my MoYou London XL Marshmallow stamper and Depend White Stamping polish. After letting that dry, I stamped the same pattern at a different angle using a England Sleeping Palace. The base is a little dark for the a England polish to really stand out, but it still looks pretty.

The weirdest thing happened when I topcoated the manicure, the base polish turned lighter. This didn’t matter that much, but it was just weird. I have had it happen before, that a polish switches colors when it is topcoated. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they have done for today.

Fancy Friday #128 – Inspired by nature

Happy friday. Todays theme is inspired by nature, which I took as fall because it is full on fall outside now in Denmark, cold, cloudy and windy – I miss summer.

The only good thing about fall is that I’m totally in the mood for dark colors on my nails. I started with three coats of OPI Mrs. O’Leary’s BBQ, such a great fall color, get it if you don’t already have it. On my pinky I have four coats of Orly Bling.

After the polish dried I stamped with Barry M Gold Foil and Bundle Monster BM XL13. I used the same stamp last year in a different fall manicure, but it turned out much better this time. I think the base competed a little bit too much for the attention last time. I can’t believe I had the OPI polish for two years without using it, it is so pretty. Also Orly Bling is seriously so holographic I keep staring at it. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they have done for today.

Fancy Friday #124 – Light and Dark

So I was a bit lost for ideas and didn’t really know what to do, but then I decided to do a gradient from dark to light, with a fading gradient on top.

I started with two coats of a England Fonteyn, a silvery lilac holographic. I just love the a England holographic polishes. The lighter colors are super soft in the holographic effect and not in your face, but still come out to play in the sun, where the darker holographic polishes are more edgy. Also the formula is buttery smooth and super opaque. I then did a gradient using a England Lady of the Lake and Fonteyn.

I finished the manicure off with a fading stamping done with a England Lady of the Lake and Bundle Monster BM-XL13 plate. The stamping turned out a little softer than I thought but I like it a lot. I like how it disappears into the darker color, but if you look closely in real life you can still see the pattern. The sun hid behind the clouds so the holographic effect is hidden. Remember to click by to see what the other ladies came up with for today.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 24 / Fancy Friday #104 – Event

Today’s theme is inspired by an event. I actually have two events manicures that I did a while ago, that I haven’t shown on the blog yet.

The first event is for 4th of July. Last summer I spent 4th of July in Rapid City in South Dakota in the US. I saw Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse and then walked around the downtown. I even visited a Sally’s Beauty Supply where to employees had to look at my nails. The blue is China Glaze First Mate, the red OPI Coca Cola Red with a coat of Orly Star Spangled. The stamp on the index and pinky is from Bundle Monster H25 and stamped with Depend White stamping polish. The middle nails stamping is from a BBF plate.

On my right hand I used the same polishes and plate. The ring finger on both hands is done by freehand. The white is done with Barry M Nail Art Pen in white and the blue is the same China Glaze polish.

The second event is Thanksgiving. I have celebrated Thanksgiving in Denmark for I think 12 years with my family at the Marriott in Copenhagen. I love a holiday centered around food and being together. The index and middle nail is OPI Alpine Snow. The glitter on the index is China Glaze Electrify. I can’t remember the colors I used for the turkey but I was inspired by The Nail Network. The ring finger is the same colors and technique as the 4th of July nails.  The pinky is OPI Black Onyx and the waterfall technique with various golden polishes.

Fancy Friday #79 – Halloween

Happy Halloween. In Denmark we really don’t celebrate Halloween like the Americans, which is a little sad. I was lucky enough to visit Boston and New York in October 2010, and I spent some time driving around neighborhoods in Boston looking at the amazing Halloween decorations outside the houses. I did buy candy so if we have any trick or treaters we are prepared.

I normally don’t wear orange, because I’m never in the mood for that color, but because it is Halloween it was the perfect color. I started with a coat of OPI Where Did Suzi’s Man-Go?, and then water marbled with that, China Glaze Riveting and China Glaze Orange You Hot. After a lot of clean up (why does water marble have to be so messy?) I stamped using my Bundle Monster Holiday plates H06, H07, H08 and H11 and Depend Black Stamping polish.

It really screams Halloween, and those Bundle Monster plates are so handy for holidays, because there is something for all occasions. Click on the blue blob to see what everybody else came up with for this friday.

Bonus shot with a cute dried mini pumpkin.

Happy Halloween.
