Fancy Friday #125 – Chocolate nails

I was completely lost when I saw today’s theme. I actually considered just putting on a brown polish and calling it a day, but after a little thought and a lot of googling, I remembered that I had some gold leaf foil that I hadn’t tried, so the nails are inspired by the gold wrapping paper on some chocolates.

I started with three coats of OPI How Great Is Your Dane? and while the third coat was still tacky I tore up some of the foil into smaller pieces and placed it on the nail using tweezers. I pressed the foil down with my fingers to secure it, and finished off with topcoat. On my pinky I have two coats of Nails Inc Sugar House Lane, just to add something different.

I really liked how it turned out, and while I normally do not wear brown polishes I like the gold/brown combo. Remember to click on the link to see what the other ladies came up with.

Fancy Friday #120 – Inspired by a TV show

So I had actually switched todays theme out with the one for next week in my mind, luckily I found out my mistake before I started doing the nails, but I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do, so I was some really quick nail art. I was inspired by Gossip Girl and decided to use one of my Gossip Girl x Nails Inc polishes.

I started with three coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff to keep the overall look more summery than using one of the darker bases that was in the Gossip Girl collection. I then topped all of the nails with two coats of Nails Inc High Society, a beautiful orange, yellow and green duo chrome flakie polish.

I really like how the flakies don’t stand out a lot over the light base, but when you move your fingers around they shine and catch the light. When I think Gossip Girl, I think high fashion, luxe fabrics and drama.

To bring a little bit more of the Gossip Girl tv show to the nails I painted xoxo on my thumb nail. I started doing it with OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby, but it didn’t show up enough, so I mixed LAMB with a little bit of OPI Black Onyx to deepen the shade for it to show up on the light base. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they did for today.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 3 / Fancy Friday #101 – Matte

Today’s theme is matte. We are still doing Fancy Friday every friday, so the ladies that are not joining the challenge is still participating on friday. Todays theme is matte. I have a lot of flakie polishes and they look so cool mattified, so I found two I haven’t worn yet.

I started with two coats of OPI Black Onyx and applied a coat of Nails Inc High Society to my index and ring finger and a coat of Finger Paints Twisted to my middle and pinky. I then mattified everything with a coat of OPI Matte Topcoat.

I am really bad at using my OPI Matte Topcoat and I need to remember it more, especially when wearing glitters, because the look really good when mattified. I really love the Finger Paints flakie, unfortunately it was limited edition and only sold in Sally’s Beauty Supply in the US, but you might be lucky and find them on blogsales, but probably not that cheap.

Everybody can participate just use the hashtag #WeekendOffNailArtChallenge on social media like Instagram or add your link at the bottom through inlinkz, all you need is a free user. Remember to check out the other ladies link at the bottom throughout the day, just click on the little frog 🙂

Fancy Friday #90 – Striping tape

It’s Fancy Friday number 90. I can’t believe that I have done so many, it’s really a fun group, because I have really been challenged to think more creatively and explored new techniques. Today we are tackling striping tape. Something I have played with more than once.

I knew I wanted to use my new polish from Different Dimension Sexy and I Snow It. I was inspired by Dressed Up Nails, who did a lot of cool striping and freehand, unfortunately she doesn’t blog anymore, but you can still check out her blog. Some of these patterns on my nails was a little hard to do, especially to one on my middle finger, I think that was why I went with a relatively simple design on my ring finger, because at that point I was almost ready to throw the tape out the window 🙂 As the base I used two coats of Nails Inc Lily, but if I had been more careful I could definitely have gotten away with one coat since it’s super pigmented.

I think my favorite design is the one on my thumb, it was somewhat easy to do, the only thing to be careful about is lining up the ends of the tape that is pointing down, to the last diagonal tape, so that the line is one line with no gaps. The polish sparkles much more in real life, but the sun has been elusive in Denmark the past week and my camera wouldn’t capture the holographic-ness of the glitter. Click on the blue blob to see what the other ladies have come up with for today.

I dag er det Fælles Fredag nummer 90. Vildt.

Fancy Friday #57 – Fashion

Hello and happy Friday. I’m on the very last days of my project work, we are handing in Monday at noon. Today we are inspired by fashion. We used the same theme back in October, click here to see what I did back then. Today I was inspired by my own closet, more specifically a blazer from H&M New Icons.

It has on off white base, with blue/purple streaks and black streaks. The lapel is in dark blue faux leather and it also has piping details in the same blue faux leather.

I started out with three coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff. After that dried I used the distressed nail art effect by Sarah from Chalkboard Nails. I started with Color Club Total Mystery, a blue/purple shimmer using the distressed technique. After that dried a little bit, I did the same with Nails Inc Serena, a black creme. I finished off with a coat of HK Girl top coat. On my ring finger I used two coats of Catrice How I Matt Your Mother, a dark purple, with a matte leather finish, to match the leather lapel.

The nails turned out exactly like I imagined in my head, and they match the blazer perfectly. Click on the blue blob in the bottom, to see what fashion the other ladies was inspired by.

I dag er temaet mode.

Fancy Friday #54 – Black and White

Greetings from Barcelona. Well technically I’m writing this Tuesday, but I will be in Barcelona when this goes live. I used a new one of my MoYou plates I got a couple of weeks ago.

I did one coat of China Glaze White on White, my bottle is getting quite low and little goopy, so after that I did a coat of Essie Marshmallow and finally another coat China Glaze White on White. After that dried, I stamped with a flower pattern on MoYou Pro 10XL using Nails Inc Serena.

The black and white together looks really cool, and a lot of people have commented on my nails. Click on the blue blob to see how the others have used black and white on their nails.

Fancy Friday #53 – Happy Birthday

One year ago we started Fancy Friday. It have been some fun challenges, and I can’t wait for the next year. Today we are celebrating the one year birthday with some birthday nails

On my thumb and pinky I used two coats of Nails Inc Serena, a black creme and Cult Nails Happy Ending, a shredded glitter with blue, pink, gold, silver and orange shreds in. On my index I used three coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff and then drew a balloon using Essie Sexy Divide. I used OPI Planks a Lot for the highlight and Nails Inc Serena for the black details. I was inspired by these balloon nails by Raggio di Luna

On my middle finger I used three coats of China Glaze Pelican Grey. I painted the number one with a small brush and Essie No Place Like Chrome and Nails Inc Serena for the black outline. On my ring finger I made a cute little cupcake, because what is a birthday without cake. I used two coats of Cult Nails Let’s Get Dirty. The base of the cupcake is made with Essence Purple Diamond and OPI Planks a Lot. The icing is made with Nails Inc Topping Lane from the Sprinkles Collection and the little glitter from Deborah Lippmann Blinded by the Light.
