Fancy Friday #172 – Rainbow

Happy Friday. Todays theme is rainbow. I had this specific idea for a manicure in my head ever since I purchased these polishes last year, and finally had an opportunity to do it.

vdsc_0653

I have three coats of OPI This Gown Needs a Crown on my thumb, index and pinky. On my middle finger nail I have two coats of OPI My Signature is “DC” as the base for the water marble and three coats of Floss Gloss Dimepiece on my ring finger. I accidentally dipped the ring finger in the water, but the effect turned out really great.

The water marble is done with all of the OPI Color Paints polishes – Magenta Muse, Chromatic Orange, Primarily Yellow, Landscape Artist, Turquoise Aesthetic, Indigo Motif, Purple Perspective and Pen & Pink. I just dropped the polishes in without making a design before dipping in my finger. It turned out exactly as I had imagined. I’m definitely going to be using these polishes for a water marble again.

I dag er temaet regnbue. Jeg har haft ideen til denne water marble lige siden jeg købte lakkerne sidste år, og det blev lige som jeg havde forestillet mig.

Fancy Friday #147 – Easter Nails

Happy Friday. Easter is only a couple of days away, so Easter is our theme for today. I didn’t really know what to do, but after googling around a bit I found this manicure by SoNailicious and completely stole it, because it was so cute and simply.

VDSC_0011

I started out with three coats of each of the polishes I used. On my index I have Barry M Rose Hip, the middle is Essie Lilacism (the purple version). The ring finger is Barry M Sugar Apple and the pinky is Barry M Sky Blue. I topped that with a coat of Ninja Polish He Went To Jarred. I dapped some more flakes on, on the sparser areas. I topped that off with a coat of Poshe top coat to dry the manicure fast and even out the surface.

On my thumb I have three coats of Barry M Peach Melba, as well as a coat of Ninja Polish He Went To Jarred.

I topped the manicure with OPI Matte Top Coat, after everything was dry. The matte top coat allowed the white gold flakes to stand out more, as well as make the pastel colors a bit more muted. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they did for today.

I dag er temaet påske. Jeg blev inspireret af en påske æg manicure fra SoNailicious. Jeg elsker pastel farverne og de sølvfarvede flakes. Husk at klikke forbi de andre damer for at se hvad de har fundet på.

Fancy Friday #119 – Rainbow

Happy Friday. Today is my birthday, I’m turning 22, and what better way to celebrate that with a little rainbow skittle on the nails. This manicure was completely copied from Sarah from Chalkboard Nails and her Rainbow Leopard Skittles, from the design to the nail polish colors, so all credit goes to her 🙂

VDSC_1385

I started with three coats of each of the neon shimmers from China Glaze. On my index I have I’m With the Lifeguard, on my middle nail I have Sun-Kissed, the ring finger is Orange You Hot? and the pinky is Surfin’ For Boys, these colors are super fun and bright. I then added the leopard print with a dotting tool for the white part which is OPI Alpine Snow and a small detail brush for the black outline which is OPI Black Onyx.

To complete the rainbow I have Splish Splash also from China Glaze. This manicure was super easy and quick to do, and you could vary the base colors for different results. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they have come up with for today.

Fancy Friday #118 – Inspired by a summer memory

So I’m back from vacation. It was two great and very hot weeks. I would not call the current Danish weather summer. It’s cloudy, windy and rainy most of the time, so it feels more like a fall day than the end of July. Hopefully the summer returns next week. I was inspired by a picture I took of a sunset in Florida back in 2009.

Sunset_Florida2_0001

I just love the way the sunset colors blend together with the tiny hint of purple skies and the completely black palm trees in the front.

VDSC_1379

I started with two coats of China Glaze Happy Go Lucky, and then applied liquid latex around the nail to help with the clean up after the gradient. I did three coats of the gradient using OPI Live.Love.Carnaval closest to the cuticle, OPI Toucan Do It If You Try in the middle and the China Glaze at the tip.

VDSC_1381

After the base was dry I used a striping brush and black acrylic paint to paint the palm trees. I painted a stripe for the base, and four stripes for the base of the leaves. I then added tiny stripes to form the leaves. After the paint was dry I finished off with a coat of Poshe top coat. Remember to check out the other ladies by clicking on the blue frog.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – 27 Dragmarble

We are entering into the last four days of the challenge. Today’s theme is dragmarble. I’m not entirely happy about today’s outcome. I think my inspiration photo was much better and of course after doing the nails I had a ton of other ideas. Typical 🙂

VDSC_0942

I was inspired by a manicure by Simple Little Pleasures on YouTube. She did a fiery manicure inspired by Hunger Games. I first applied a thinner coat of OPI Alpine Snow and then did a thicker coat on nail at a time. I then dragged a toothpick with polish on through the wet polish with a light hand. I used OPI Jinx, Gosh Frosted Gold and Zoya Chyna.

VDSC_0951

I don’t know what it is with me and applying wet polish to wet polish, it looks so cool and simple when other people do it, but when I do it, it turns out so differently. I might try out some of my other ideas another time. My family all think my nails looked really cool, so it might just be me.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 10 / Fancy Friday #102 – Orange

Today’s theme is orange. I long time ago, a theme in Fancy Friday was sideway french – click here to see that. I still love that manicure. To not just do a plain swatch I decided to do a sideway french dotted manicure with orange shades.

VDSC_0728

I started with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. I then added dots using two different sized dotting tools, even though the almost turned out the same size on the nail. I used OPI Toucan Do It If You Try, China Glaze Sun of a Peach, Kiko Apricot and Models Own Copper Pot to get a little sparkle.

VDSC_0731

I really liked how the sideway french dots looked. It was super easy to do, and a twist on the more classic dotted french tip. I’m not a huge fan of orange, but a little orange on a white base was quite nice.

Fancy Friday #82 – Watercolor

Happy friday. I have finally finished my three written exams for this semester. It was a hard week and I’m glad it’s over.

VDSC_0344

Today I’m playing with watercolor and was actually inspired by my methods book. It’s super boring but the cover is super pretty.

VDSC_0334

I started out with three coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, a white with a hint of grey making it look more like paper. I then blobbed on OPI Planks A Lot and then went in with some nail polish remover and thinned the color. I continued with Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream, Essie Mojito Madness and OPI Where Did Suzi’s Man-Go?. I used a little of the next color to blend the transitions between the nails.

VDSC_0345

It looks really cool, but my nail are a little thick since I used a coat of topcoat between the base color and the watercolor and a topcoat to finish off the manicure. Next week I’m going to be in London, but I will prepare the manicure before hand so it’s still going up 🙂 Click on the blue blob to check out what the other ladies have done 🙂

I dag er temaet watercolor. Jeg blev inspireret af en af mine bøger mens jeg skrev eksamen. Bogen er kedelig men coveret er rigtig fint. Klik på den blå blob for at se hvad de andre har fundet på 🙂
