Fancy Friday #169 – Danish summer

Happy Friday. Today’s theme is Danish summer. This the weather have been very rainy, at least for the most part. I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in the US and 4 days in Malaga, so I got some sunshine and warmth.

I choose to do a grey waterfall manicure to represent the grey skies and rain we had, but I added a touch of gold, to represent the days of sunshine. I started with three coats of Illamsqua Raindrops. I then did a waterfall manicure using OPI Black Onyx, Picture Polish Winter, a England Encore Margot and China Glaze I’m Not Lion.

I dag er temaet dansk sommer, som har været lidt grå og regnfuld, ihvertfald det meste af den tid jeg har været hjemme. Der har dog været gode dage, som er repræsenteret af guld glimmeren i manicuren. Husk at klikke forbi de andre.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 24 / Fancy Friday #104 – Event

Today’s theme is inspired by an event. I actually have two events manicures that I did a while ago, that I haven’t shown on the blog yet.

The first event is for 4th of July. Last summer I spent 4th of July in Rapid City in South Dakota in the US. I saw Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse and then walked around the downtown. I even visited a Sally’s Beauty Supply where to employees had to look at my nails. The blue is China Glaze First Mate, the red OPI Coca Cola Red with a coat of Orly Star Spangled. The stamp on the index and pinky is from Bundle Monster H25 and stamped with Depend White stamping polish. The middle nails stamping is from a BBF plate.

On my right hand I used the same polishes and plate. The ring finger on both hands is done by freehand. The white is done with Barry M Nail Art Pen in white and the blue is the same China Glaze polish.

The second event is Thanksgiving. I have celebrated Thanksgiving in Denmark for I think 12 years with my family at the Marriott in Copenhagen. I love a holiday centered around food and being together. The index and middle nail is OPI Alpine Snow. The glitter on the index is China Glaze Electrify. I can’t remember the colors I used for the turkey but I was inspired by The Nail Network. The ring finger is the same colors and technique as the 4th of July nails.  The pinky is OPI Black Onyx and the waterfall technique with various golden polishes.

Fancy Friday #88 – New Years Eve Waterfall Nails

Happy new year. I hope you all made it safely into the new year. I had a fun low-key night in high heels and a very glittery dress (I left glitter everywhere I walked and sat). Today is the first friday of 2015, and we are showing off our new years eve nails. I went with a simple waterfall nail.

I used a total of 11 polishes for this look. The black nails have a base of two coats of OPI Black Onyx. The waterfall stripes are made with Sally Hansen Liquid Gold, Showgirl Chic and Celeb City, Kiko 232, OPI My Voice Is A Little Norse and Spark de Triomphe. For the silver accent nail I used Orly Mirrorball as the base and OPI Black Onyx, China Glaze Some Like it Haute, Wet n Wild Tonight’s Gonna Be a Good Night and Deborah Lippmann Twilight Tone.

The look like fireworks or glittering garland. They matched my dress perfectly. Sammy from the Nailasaurus is the maker behind the waterfall nail art, so I big thank you to her for inventing the technique, because I love it and have used it a couple of times the past year. Click on the blue blob to see what the other ladies had on their nails as we rang in the new year.

Fancy Friday #37 – Waterfall

Today we are doing this technique made by the awesome Sammy from The Nailasaurus. Sammy makes really great tutorials and her nail art is simple, yet so beautiful. I wanted to try this technique out since I saw it on Sammy’s blog, so I’m glad it was one of our challenges.

I am still completely in love with the splatter that I did a couple of months back, mostly because of the color scheme. That grey and copper with the black looked so good together so that’s where my inspiration for these colors came from.

I started out with two coats of Gosh Miss Grey, a jelly like grey creme. I then took my smallest striping brush from BornPrettyStore and made different sized stripes with Gosh Golden Bronze, Essie Penny Talk, China Glaze Champagne Kisses and finally Nails Inc Serena. The bronze and copper colors really pop on the grey base and the glitter just add a little sparkle without overwhelming the look. Please check out the other ladies blogs, to see what colors they have chosen for their waterfalls.
