#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge Round-Up

Here is the round-up post for the #WeekendOffNailArtChallenge. It was so fun to participate and push my creativity, but I do enjoy being able to keep a design on my nails a little bit longer and not having to paint my nails everyday. My favorites had to be Day 1, Day 6, Day 14, Day 17, Day 28, Day 29 and Day 30.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 30 Dots

Today’s theme is dots. It is the very last day of our #WeekendOffNailArtChallenge. It has been such a fun month, but also quite hard, because sometimes I have not gotten to enjoy the nail art I did for very long, before having to change my polish again. I also think my nails and fingers will thank me a bit, because they have been a bit dry this month. I will do a round-up post Monday, so you can see all the nail art I have done for this challenge.

I was inspired by Nailstorming on YouTube and Instagram, who have done some cool dotted gradient nails. I started with two coats of Essie Ballet Slippers, just to give my nails a bit more pink and to cover the staining of my nail beds. I then used China Glaze Feel The Breeze, China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy, China Glaze Pool Party and Orly Beach Cruiser for the dots, and two different size dotting tools.

Bonus shot of my nails under LED light. I just love how neons glow under a black light. I also can’t wait to wear neons on my fingers all summer long, how I have missed them. Remember to check back in tomorrow for Fancy Friday.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 29 Splatter

Today’s theme is splatter. I decided to do something a bit different, than the usual splatter technique, which is done with a straw and nail polish. I was inspired by a Danish girl on Facebook.

VDSC_0973

I started with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. I let that dry and then pulled out some watercolor paint that I got at my local supermarket. I then dipped a paint brush in water and watered down the color so it was quite liquid. I then just flicked the brush over the nail to splatter the paint on there. I used bright blue, a purple, a dark blue/purple, a red/pink, a teal and a bright green color. I let the colors dry before doing a new color to not mix the colors too much together.

VDSC_0984

It’s important to make sure that you have covered up your work area with some paper or newspaper, because it gets a bit messy. I then topcoated my nails and after that had dried, I washed my hands well to get rid of the color that had splattered all over my fingers. It gave a really cool effect and was really easy to do. It’s funny how some of the nails have really small dots on them, while others had larger dots.

Extra photo of my thumb. I will definitely try this again, because it was a lot easier than the traditional splatter done with a straw and nail polish, but the effect it quite different.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 28 Saran wrap

Today’s theme is saran wrap. I really like the effect saran wrap gives. I have previously done a post using saran wrap in three different ways. My favorite way is dipping the saran wrap in polish and then sponging it on the nail. That way you can layer your colors.

VDSC_0962

I started with two coats of Alpine Snow. After letting it dry at crumbled up a piece of saran wrap and sponged on Revlon Lemon Meringue. I then went in with Cult Nails Feelin’ Froggy, Cult Nails Nakizzle Shizzle, Appeal4 Lavender Daffodil and finally Appeal4 Queen’s Lace. I let each round of polish dry before going in with the next color. I varied where on the nail I sponged on each color so no two nails turned out the same. I then went back in with some of the colors depending on what I felt like the nail needed.

VDSC_0969

I then used MoYou London Pro 06XL and Mundo de Uñas Black to stamp with. I  think this nail art is one of my favorites I have done for this challenge. The saran wrap ended up looking almost like watercolor and the different colors blended well into each other. I may try it again with the same color scheme but stamping with a white polish instead, just to see how that turns out.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – 27 Dragmarble

We are entering into the last four days of the challenge. Today’s theme is dragmarble. I’m not entirely happy about today’s outcome. I think my inspiration photo was much better and of course after doing the nails I had a ton of other ideas. Typical 🙂

VDSC_0942

I was inspired by a manicure by Simple Little Pleasures on YouTube. She did a fiery manicure inspired by Hunger Games. I first applied a thinner coat of OPI Alpine Snow and then did a thicker coat on nail at a time. I then dragged a toothpick with polish on through the wet polish with a light hand. I used OPI Jinx, Gosh Frosted Gold and Zoya Chyna.

VDSC_0951

I don’t know what it is with me and applying wet polish to wet polish, it looks so cool and simple when other people do it, but when I do it, it turns out so differently. I might try out some of my other ideas another time. My family all think my nails looked really cool, so it might just be me.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 24 / Fancy Friday #104 – Event

Today’s theme is inspired by an event. I actually have two events manicures that I did a while ago, that I haven’t shown on the blog yet.

VDSC_0574

The first event is for 4th of July. Last summer I spent 4th of July in Rapid City in South Dakota in the US. I saw Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse and then walked around the downtown. I even visited a Sally’s Beauty Supply where to employees had to look at my nails. The blue is China Glaze First Mate, the red OPI Coca Cola Red with a coat of Orly Star Spangled. The stamp on the index and pinky is from Bundle Monster H25 and stamped with Depend White stamping polish. The middle nails stamping is from a BBF plate.

VDSC_0579

On my right hand I used the same polishes and plate. The ring finger on both hands is done by freehand. The white is done with Barry M Nail Art Pen in white and the blue is the same China Glaze polish.

VDSC_0368

The second event is Thanksgiving. I have celebrated Thanksgiving in Denmark for I think 12 years with my family at the Marriott in Copenhagen. I love a holiday centered around food and being together. The index and middle nail is OPI Alpine Snow. The glitter on the index is China Glaze Electrify. I can’t remember the colors I used for the turkey but I was inspired by The Nail Network. The ring finger is the same colors and technique as the 4th of July nails.  The pinky is OPI Black Onyx and the waterfall technique with various golden polishes.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 23 Animals

Today’s theme is animals. I don’t know if a purple leopard with pink, white and holographic spots exists but wouldn’t that be awesome. I have had the glitter topper for a couple of months so it was time to use it.

VDSC_0938

I started with two coats of Essie Coat Couture, a matte purple polish with blue shimmer. A really liked this polish but it was a tiny bit uneven at two coats so if I hadn’t added another polish on top, I would probably have done a third coat. The glitter topper is Different Dimension Feelin’ Spotty, which consists of tiny holographic glitter, small white hex glitter, small pink and holographic round glitters, medium-sized white, pink and holographic round glitter and finally white, pink and holographic leopard glitter.

VDSC_0930

I applied a normal coat of the glitter and then dumped some out on a piece of paper where I then picked up the leopard glitter and placed them where I wanted. I also picked up some of the regular glitters and applied them in spots that needed a bit more using a dotting tool. I applied a coat of Gelous to create smooth finish and topped it with a coat of Seche Vite. Feelin’ Spotty is a super fun polish and the glitters sparkle in the sun.
