Fancy Friday #75 – Party

Hello everybody, how are you doing? This Friday is all about partying. I’m actually going to a party tomorrow, but I won’t be wearing these nails.

VDSC_0192

I started with three coats of Essence – Where is the Party?, a purple/green duochrome. Then I sponged H&M – Roof Party, a hot pink and silver chunky glitter on my index and middle finger. On my ring finger and pinky I sponged Cult Nails – Walk of Shame, a gold and holographic glitter. I went for a little bit of a party theme with the polish colors, since “the walk of shame” is what sometimes happens after a party (although I never did that myself J I’m not completely over the moon for these nails, so this weekend I will be wearing Deborah Lippmann – Lost In Space, a navy almost texture glitter with holographic hexagons.

Fancy Friday #71 – Drybrush

I have tried the dry brush or distressed technique thought out by Sarah from Chalkboard Nails before, so I wanted to do something a bit different this time. I thought of a post I saw on Lucy’s Stash, where she used duo-chrome polishes on a black base.

I started out with two coats of OPI Black Onyx. I then pulled out Dance Legend Celia & Boggs and Models Own Golden Green, from their duo-chrome Beetle Juice collection. I then wiped the brush completely off, before brushing the colors on randomly on the nails.

This have to be one of the hardest manicures to take photos of. The colors constantly change depending on the angle, you look at them in. This photo is taken in the shade to better see the colors. It almost looks like those beetle wings that have so many colors on them.

Bonus shot, to show some of the color shift. The dry brush technique is a lot more subtle when doing it like this. I kind of want to try it with a white base instead or with holographic polishes. Click on the blue blob to see what the other ladies have come up with.

Fancy Friday #63 – Stamping

Hello and happy friday. Today we are stamping, a technique I am really starting to enjoy and love playing around with. This time I went for a tropical look.

VDSC_0243

I started out with three coats of Sally Hansen Wavelength on my thumb and ring finger and three coats of Models Own Tropical Sun. After that dried I stamped with Depend Stamping polish in black using two different plates. On my thumb and ring finger I stamped with BBF 11 and on the rest of my nails I stamped a Hawaii flower design from MoYou 10XL

The stamping turned out really crisp on the flowers, a little bit less on the butterflies, but they still look good. Click on the blue blob at the bottom to see what the other ladies have stamped.

Fancy Friday #21 – Dots

Today we are doing dots. I have never actually done a manicure with dots, as far as I can remember. I was inspired by Sarah from Chalkboard Nails, who does amazing nail art and has amazing nails. She did this dot manicure last fall and as soon as I saw it, I knew it was perfect.

VDSC_1197

First of all, this manicure was so hard to photograph. The dots did not want to show up like the look in real life. I started up with two coats of Cult Nails Vicious, a creme eggplant purple. It is very opaque and was super easy to apply.

VDSC_1211

Then I did larger dots in the center and small dots on each side. I used Cult Nails Charlatan. It is sort of douchrome glassfleck topcoat in pink, purple and blue. It is super sparkly and so pretty over darker colors like this purple. It looks blue in the center and purple on the edges. When you tilt your hands all the way back its pink.

In this picture you can see the pink sparkle. Dots are a super easy way to spice up a manicure or do super easy nail art. This will not be my last dotticure. To see what the others have come up with using dots, just click on the blue blob.

First birthday

Today is the blogs first birthday. It’s been a year since I started and it have been a lot of fun. I have started to find out what I want to blog about something I didn’t know when I started. If off from school and don’t have any exams only to test so I’m already on vacation. I leave for USA in a month and I was a bit terrified about the volcano eruption on Iceland, because we are flying from there to Washington. This is a manicure from over a month ago. It’s Sally Hansen DVD and Barry M Instant Nail Effects in Black, which I bought in London. I really loved who shiny it was, I couldn’t stop looking at my fingers 🙂

DVD

I have 7 new nail polishes I haven’t tried on yet, and 4 others on my computer I haven’t shown you, so the in the new year there will be a lot of nail polishes 🙂 The one I have for you today is one a worn a long time ago. It’s called Sally Hansen Hi-Definition Nail Color in 15 DVD. It’s a duochrome glitter in purple and blue, it’s really pretty in real life, and would be much better on picture if I had taken them on a sunny day 😉
