Fancy Friday #146 – Inspired by my family

Happy friday. I feel like spring is almost here. The days are getting longer, the temperatures are slowly rising and the sun is out. This translated into my color choices for today. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do for today, but an idea of using my family’s favorites colors hit me.

VDSC_2171

My sisters favorite color is pink, so I used that color on my index and pinky. I used two coats of H&M Marsala Chai, it is a little bit more pink in the bottle. I topped it with a coat of INM Northern Lights. My favorite color is purple, so I used three coats of Essence A Whisper of Spring on my thumb and middle finger. I topped it with MoYou London White Knight and the MoYou London Pro XL 06 plate. My mom and dad’s favorite color is blue, so I used two coats of Julie G Blueberry Fizz on my ring finger.

VDSC_2169

It feels really good to have some lighter spring colors on my nails, after the long fall and winter. The stamp is my favorite one from MoYou London, but I actually let my sister pick the stamp today.

VDSC_2159

The purple polish has a really pretty pink shimmer running through it, and the brush on the Essence polishes are really nice and wide. The H&M polish had amazing opacity, and was nearly opaque in one coat. If you have not tried the new H&M polishes I highly recommend checking them out. The other two I have tried unto now, have worn really well. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they did for today.

Fancy Friday #132 – Inspired by makeup

Happy friday. I had a long week. I spent the first half of the week writing my essay for the final class this semester, and the past 24 hours have been spent in Aalborg at a conference. Today we are inspired by makeup. I knew exactly what to do, when I saw the prompt.

I was inspired by the packaging of the new Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette. It has a colorful chrome crisscross pattern. Urban Decay usually have some of the most interesting and colorful packaging on the market, so there is plenty of inspiration there.

VDSC_1725

I started with two coats of OPI Black Onyx as my base. I used the MoYou London Holy Shapes 08 plate and the crossing lines pattern at the bottom. I used 5 different polishes for the stamping, although one of them is not visible on the nail since it was at the very bottom of the pattern. I used Essence Purple Diamond, Essie Blue Rhapsody, Barry M Silver Foil, Barry M Gold Foil and Essie Penny Talk.

VDSC_1740

The color change on the nail is a little bit more subtle than on the Urban Decay packaging, but my chrome polishes was all a little bit more subtle in color. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they have come up with for today.

Fancy Friday #75 – Party

Hello everybody, how are you doing? This Friday is all about partying. I’m actually going to a party tomorrow, but I won’t be wearing these nails.

VDSC_0192

I started with three coats of Essence – Where is the Party?, a purple/green duochrome. Then I sponged H&M – Roof Party, a hot pink and silver chunky glitter on my index and middle finger. On my ring finger and pinky I sponged Cult Nails – Walk of Shame, a gold and holographic glitter. I went for a little bit of a party theme with the polish colors, since “the walk of shame” is what sometimes happens after a party (although I never did that myself J I’m not completely over the moon for these nails, so this weekend I will be wearing Deborah Lippmann – Lost In Space, a navy almost texture glitter with holographic hexagons.

Fancy Friday #69 – Untried with a royal theme

Today our theme is untried, this could either be polish or a specific technique. I wasn’t really eager to try a new technique and also had no idea what it should be since I have tried a lot already, so I decided on pulling out some untried polishes.  Truth be told I have a lot of untried polishes, but I always aim to use at least one untried polish when I do a new manicure, to work my way through them. When looking through my stash list I found that I had some polishes with a theme in common.

VDSC_0087

All of these polishes have something tying to royals in the name, so I thought why not do a skittle manicure with a theme? On my index I have three coats of Butter London No More Waity, Katie, named after Kate Middleton. On my index I have two coats of Catrice Purple Reign, I stamped a crown on top using MoYou London Pro 05 and a white stamping polish from Depend. On my ring finger I’m wearing three coats of Picture Polish Imperial and on my pinky I have two coats of OPI Miss You-Niverse(this was just a base color so it doesn’t really have anything to do with the theme) with a coat of Essence Space Queen on top.

VDSC_0084

On my thumb I’m also wearing two coats of the OPI color and a coat of Glam Polish Fairy Princess Gru. Luckily all the polishes was in the same color family, so it doesn’t look to crazy mixed together. I was a little surprised when I looked through my untried polishes that these had a connecting theme, but it made it a little more fun than just 5 random polishes. Click on the blue blob to see what the other ladies have come up with.

Fancy Friday #67 – Inspired by a bikini

Yesterday was my 21st birthday. I spend the day with my family and had a good time. Tomorrow I’m having 28 people for cake and dinner to celebrate. Today we are being inspired by a bikini or a swimsuit. I looked around the internet to find something that I could use as an inspiration and came across this bikini by Caprice on Asos. I immediately thought about doing a dry brush manicure with the colors.

Bikini

The bikini has a cool pattern with white, grey, blue, mint and black. It sort of looks like an ikat print, which I also thought about doing.

VDSC_0058

I started out with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. After letting that dry, I wiped off the nail polish brush so there barely was any color left on it. I started out with Essence Romeo, then Barry M Blueberry Ice Cream, then Essie Mint Candy Apple and finally OPI Black Onyx. I topped everything off with a coat of HK Girl top coat. I really like the result and it matches the bikini well. You know the drill, click on the blue blob to see what the other ladies have come up with.

Fancy Friday #53 – Happy Birthday

One year ago we started Fancy Friday. It have been some fun challenges, and I can’t wait for the next year. Today we are celebrating the one year birthday with some birthday nails

VDSC_0277

On my thumb and pinky I used two coats of Nails Inc Serena, a black creme and Cult Nails Happy Ending, a shredded glitter with blue, pink, gold, silver and orange shreds in. On my index I used three coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff and then drew a balloon using Essie Sexy Divide. I used OPI Planks a Lot for the highlight and Nails Inc Serena for the black details. I was inspired by these balloon nails by Raggio di Luna

VDSC_0266

On my middle finger I used three coats of China Glaze Pelican Grey. I painted the number one with a small brush and Essie No Place Like Chrome and Nails Inc Serena for the black outline. On my ring finger I made a cute little cupcake, because what is a birthday without cake. I used two coats of Cult Nails Let’s Get Dirty. The base of the cupcake is made with Essence Purple Diamond and OPI Planks a Lot. The icing is made with Nails Inc Topping Lane from the Sprinkles Collection and the little glitter from Deborah Lippmann Blinded by the Light.

Fancy Friday #49 – Inspired by a shoe

Today we are doing nails inspired by a shoe. I was deciding between my very expensive Louboutin shoes and my crazy awesome holographic glitter shoes from Nine West. In the end the holographic glitter shoes won, partly because the sun was shining bright outside.

VDSC_0186

I started this look out with three coats of Gosh Holographic Hero. This is the relaunch of the HTF Gosh Holographic. The new version has a better formula, but is a little less holographic. After that I applied a coat of Essence Hello Holo, a holographic glitter, I then stamped a fish net pattern on top in Nails Inc Serena, to mimic the pattern in the shoe. I finish off with a coat of Hello Holo that I dabbed on, and finally a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast.

VDSC_0177

I really love this look. It’s super sparkly and holographic. The look exactly like the shoes. I bought these on sale in Florida and they are my favorite shoes (well after my Louboutin’s). They are super comfortably even though they are high, and add that perfect sparkle to every look.

VDSC_0165

Bonus shot of the holographic effect. Click on the blue blob in the bottom, to see what shoes the other ladies have been inspired by today.

Christmas manicure 2013

Happy New Year. Here is my very belated christmas manicure of 2013, on the very last day of this year. Have a safe and happy new years eve, and I will see you on the other side 🙂

VDSC_1603

I used three coats of China Glaze Champagne Kisses on my index, and stamped little reindeer from MoYou London with Color Club Cop An Attitude. On my middle finger I did three coats of China Glaze This Is Tree-mendous and stamped christmas trees on top with a-England Saint George. On my ring finger I used three coats of Essie Beyond Cosy and stamped with Saint George, Essie Penny Talk and Essence Red-y To Go. Unfortunately the stamp did not show up well at all. On my pinky I did two coats of OPI My Vampire is Buff and 1 1/2 coat of Different Dimension Don’t Be The Santa of Everything.

VDSC_1623

On my thumb I did two coats of Essence Red-y To Go and topped it with Foxy Paws Love That Jumper, which contains little snowmen, so cute. They actually lay pretty flat, so I didn’t feel the need to pick at them. The reindeer didn’t show up that well either, next time I will do colors that are a bit farther apart, when doing a glitter base.

Fancy Friday #31 – New York, New York

Todays challenge is Big City. I chose New York, not only because I love the US, and have been to New York twice, but because it gave me a chance to play with my new MoYou London plates.

VDSC_1519

On my right hand I started with two coats of Catrice New York (very fitting) on the index and two coats of a-England Bridal Veil on my middle, ring and pinky. On my thumb I have two coats of a-England Perceval. I stamped with Sally Hansen Celeb City. On my index I stamped a I ❤ NY pattern. On the rest I stamped the skyline. The buildings are leaning a tiny bit, but that’s because my skills in stamping straight are not to good yet. On my thumb I stamped Stars and Stripes.

VDSC_1496

On my left hand I started with two coats of Orly Au Champagne and a coat of Essence Prismatic White on the index, ring and pinky. On my middle finger I used two coats of a-England Perceval. On my thumb I did two coats of Catrice New York. I stamped with Sally Hansen Celeb City on my middle and did an American Football player. On my thumb I did the Statue of Liberty. On my index and pinky I stamped the same pattern from the right hand this time in a-England Perceval. I stamped a large version of the I ❤ NY on my ring finger again with Perceval.

Even though the buildings did turn out completely straight I really like the result. The MoYou plates are excellent in quality and I can really recommend them. To see what the others have done this week, just click on the blue blob in the bottom.

Fancy Friday #1 – Blue Me Away

Hello again

First I want to apologize for the very long hiatus. It’s was not planned, but sort of just happened. After I started at the university I didn’t have much time and had to get used to the new environment. Things have started to settle down and I missed blogging, so now I’m back again.

To get back in the swing of things and to push my self a little bit, I joined a challenge or collaboration with a some other Danish nail bloggers. So every Friday I’m doing Fancy Friday. The first challenge is Blue Me Away.

I wanted to do something with studs and rhinestones, so I did a skittelette manicure, inspired by Martha from ChitChatNails. She actually invented this kind of manicure, with two accent nails.

Image

I used Kiko 294 Indigo, China Glaze First Mate, Essence Fall For Me and Cult Nails Wicked Fast for the polishes. I then used little round silver studs from Born Pretty Store, square rhinestones from Cult Nails and Born Pretty Store, glequins in Marine from Recollections from Michael’s and finally a dotting tool also from Born Pretty Store.

I used First Mate on my index and pinky together with two studs on each finger. On my middle finger I used Fall For Me with a blue rhinestone ombre. On my ring finger I used Indigo topped with a full glitter nail of the glequins by placing them individually with the dotting tool.

Image

I really loved this look and it was so fun to do. I hope you like it too. I hope you will check out what the other ladies have been up to by clicking on the little blue blob in the bottom. Some of them are going to be in Danish, but there will still be lots of pictures to look at 🙂
