Fancy Friday #172 – Rainbow

Happy Friday. Todays theme is rainbow. I had this specific idea for a manicure in my head ever since I purchased these polishes last year, and finally had an opportunity to do it.

vdsc_0653

I have three coats of OPI This Gown Needs a Crown on my thumb, index and pinky. On my middle finger nail I have two coats of OPI My Signature is “DC” as the base for the water marble and three coats of Floss Gloss Dimepiece on my ring finger. I accidentally dipped the ring finger in the water, but the effect turned out really great.

vdsc_0668

The water marble is done with all of the OPI Color Paints polishes – Magenta Muse, Chromatic Orange, Primarily Yellow, Landscape Artist, Turquoise Aesthetic, Indigo Motif, Purple Perspective and Pen & Pink. I just dropped the polishes in without making a design before dipping in my finger. It turned out exactly as I had imagined. I’m definitely going to be using these polishes for a water marble again.

Fancy Friday #136 – Elfs

Happy friday and happy december. All of the Fancy Friday post in December will have a christmas theme. The first theme is elfs, and I immediately thought of the christmas movie Elf, so that became my inspiration for today.

VDSC_1815

I started out with two coats of China Glaze Take A Hike on my index and pinky, and two coats of Zoya Chita on my thumb and middle nails. On my ring finger I started with two coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme, before doing the rest of the nail art with acrylic paint. I began with the yellow stockings, before finishing off the black elf shoes and the green jacket.

You only get one photo today, because the early nightfall is starting the bug me, so most of the photos came out a little blurry. I really hate the it starts getting dark so early, but soon it is changing again and getting lighter. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they came up with for today.

Fancy Friday #119 – Rainbow

Happy Friday. Today is my birthday, I’m turning 22, and what better way to celebrate that with a little rainbow skittle on the nails. This manicure was completely copied from Sarah from Chalkboard Nails and her Rainbow Leopard Skittles, from the design to the nail polish colors, so all credit goes to her 🙂

VDSC_1385

I started with three coats of each of the neon shimmers from China Glaze. On my index I have I’m With the Lifeguard, on my middle nail I have Sun-Kissed, the ring finger is Orange You Hot? and the pinky is Surfin’ For Boys, these colors are super fun and bright. I then added the leopard print with a dotting tool for the white part which is OPI Alpine Snow and a small detail brush for the black outline which is OPI Black Onyx.

VDSC_1392

To complete the rainbow I have Splish Splash also from China Glaze. This manicure was super easy and quick to do, and you could vary the base colors for different results. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they have come up with for today.

Fancy Friday #118 – Inspired by a summer memory

So I’m back from vacation. It was two great and very hot weeks. I would not call the current Danish weather summer. It’s cloudy, windy and rainy most of the time, so it feels more like a fall day than the end of July. Hopefully the summer returns next week. I was inspired by a picture I took of a sunset in Florida back in 2009.

Sunset_Florida2_0001

I just love the way the sunset colors blend together with the tiny hint of purple skies and the completely black palm trees in the front.

VDSC_1379

I started with two coats of China Glaze Happy Go Lucky, and then applied liquid latex around the nail to help with the clean up after the gradient. I did three coats of the gradient using OPI Live.Love.Carnaval closest to the cuticle, OPI Toucan Do It If You Try in the middle and the China Glaze at the tip.

VDSC_1381

After the base was dry I used a striping brush and black acrylic paint to paint the palm trees. I painted a stripe for the base, and four stripes for the base of the leaves. I then added tiny stripes to form the leaves. After the paint was dry I finished off with a coat of Poshe top coat. Remember to check out the other ladies by clicking on the blue frog.

Fancy Friday #110 – Childhood Memory

So I was a bit stumped for ideas for today, but then I remembered that used to blow dandelion seeds and pick daisies from the grass and put them in little vases in the house.

VDSC_1199

I started with three coats of Essie Blossom Dandy on all of my fingers. Then I stamped the dandelion seeds on my index finger from the MoYou London Pro 06XL plate. The daisies are free-handed using a small detail brush and OPI Alpine Snow for the leaves and China Glaze Happy Go Lucky for the centers.

VDSC_1204

I stamped the dandelion flowers with MoYou London Pro 06XL and Mundo de Unas Black. I’m really happy with how great the stamp transferred. You can see all the little details.

VDSC_1208

Bonus picture with the little daisy flowers in my lawn. I love the little white flowers, they remind me of spring and summer, and they also look cute in a headband or in a little vase. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they did for today.

Fancy Friday #109 – Recreate a YouTube tutorial

Happy friday. I had some busy days, and that affected my index nail, so the corner broke of twice, so annoying. Today we are recreating a YouTube tutorial. choose these pretty flowers by PackaPunchPolish.

VDSC_1190

I started with two coats of Barry M Pit Stop as the base. I then painted five petal flowers using Barry M Kiwi (bright green), Revlon Passionate Pink (pink), China Glaze Happy Go Lucky (yellow), Essie e-nuf is e-nuf (red) and OPI That’s Hula-rious (mint green) with a small detail brush. I then added three dots in the center of each flower using the same brush and OPI Black Onyx. I finished off with a coat of Seche Vite.

VDSC_1179

I really like these flowers and they were super easy to do. If you haven’t checked out Pack a Punch Polish’s YouTube channel out yet, please do, she is really talented. Remember to click on the blue frog to see what the other ladies have done for today.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 28 Saran wrap

Today’s theme is saran wrap. I really like the effect saran wrap gives. I have previously done a post using saran wrap in three different ways. My favorite way is dipping the saran wrap in polish and then sponging it on the nail. That way you can layer your colors.

VDSC_0962

I started with two coats of Alpine Snow. After letting it dry at crumbled up a piece of saran wrap and sponged on Revlon Lemon Meringue. I then went in with Cult Nails Feelin’ Froggy, Cult Nails Nakizzle Shizzle, Appeal4 Lavender Daffodil and finally Appeal4 Queen’s Lace. I let each round of polish dry before going in with the next color. I varied where on the nail I sponged on each color so no two nails turned out the same. I then went back in with some of the colors depending on what I felt like the nail needed.

VDSC_0969

I then used MoYou London Pro 06XL and Mundo de Uñas Black to stamp with. I  think this nail art is one of my favorites I have done for this challenge. The saran wrap ended up looking almost like watercolor and the different colors blended well into each other. I may try it again with the same color scheme but stamping with a white polish instead, just to see how that turns out.

Fancy Friday #100 – Easter

Happy friday and almost easter. Today it is post number 100 in Fancy Friday. It’s really crazy to think about. We are celebrating easter a little early here, hoping to inspire other people to what they want to wear for easter.

VDSC_0660

I started out with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. After that dried, I applied liquid latex around my nails so ease clean up. I then water marbled with Essie Bikini so Teeny, Essie First Timer, Revlon Buttercup, Nubar Purple Aster and OPI Pink-ing of You. I was inspired for the water marble by @thepolishedokie on Instagram. Some of her nail art was stolen by a company and then sold as press on nails. Always give credit, where credit is due!

VDSC_0677

I quite liked to way the water marble looked, and I’m so doing the pattern again with other colors, but I decided to stamp on top of it. I used Mundo de Unas black stamping polish and MoYou London Festive 13. The ring finger is the least crooked of the patterns. It is quite hard to stamp straight lines every single time. It looks a little bit tribal, so with a different base it would look even more tribal. I topped off the manicure with a coat of Seche Vite. Click on the blue blob, to see what the others did for easter nail art.

Fancy Friday #78 – A tutorial

Today the task is to create a tutorial, so I made my very first video tutorial. It was a little bit difficult getting the right angle, so I could see what I was doing but at the same time not blocking the camera. I hope you like it.

All the colors I used are listed in the description box below the video. I used the standard chevrons from NailVinyls – you can purchase them right here. They are super easy to use and they have a ton of different shapes and sizes.

VDSC_0247

I was inspired by an envelope from NailVinyls that my latest order came in. The pattern was so fun and happy that I just had to recreate it on my nails. I really liked doing a video tutorial, it is a bit time-consuming, but I would like to do more.

VDSC_0248

Click on the blue blob to see how the other ladies have done their tutorials. I know I can’t wait to check them out.

Fancy Friday #66 – Duo

Today we are doing duo’s. As soon as I saw the theme I knew what I wanted to do. I had 3 shades of Revlon Nail Art Moon Candy duo polishes, I bought back in 2012 while on vacation in Florida that I hadn’t used yet.

VDSC_0067

The creme polishes are extremely pigmented and covered almost with one coat. I could have left them like that, but out of habit I did two coats. I had a little bit of staining from the blue polish on my hands, but a little cuticle remover took care of that. I then painted a little of the flakes from the other end of the polish at the base of my nail. On my index and pinky I’m wearing Galactic, a dark blue creme and blue and purple flakes. On my middle I have Orbit on, a dark purple creme with purple and indigo flakes and finally on my ring I’m wearing Moondust, a black creme with green and yellow flakes.

VDSC_0081

To mix things up a bit I applied OPI Matte Topcoat over the nails, to see how the flakes looked matte. The flakes pop more when the they are matte, and it’s easier to see the color shift. Even though the look is a little bit dark for summer, I enjoy a darker color on my nails before diving into the last month of official summer and bright colors. The iridescent flakes brightened the look up and it would be a really cool look for fall. Click on the blue blob as usual to see what the others thought about when thinking about duo.
