Fancy Friday #149 – Fun and games

So I had no clue about todays theme, so I didn’t have a chance to do something new for this week. It’s April Fool’s day, so that inspired me a bit as well as the fun part of the challenge. I found some old manicures I hadn’t shown yet, so that will have to do for today.

The first manicure is done with Picture Polish Fool’s Gold and Zoya Vega. I stamped on top with Depend White Stamping Polish and Bundle Monster XL24. The name Fool’s Gold reminded me of April Fool’s.

This is a really old manicure, back from 2012. This was the manicure I wore for my birthday that year. What is more fun than a birthday? I used Sally Hansen Be-Jeweled and Color Club Eternal Beauty.

The last manicure, is my 4th of July manicure from last year. I love celebrating 4th of July, the food, fireworks and spending time with my family. This year I’m flying into Boston on the 4th, so hopefully we will get to see some fireworks. I used China Glaze First Mate on my index and stamped white stars from Bundle Monster XL23, the middle is Orly Star Spangled and the white stripes are also from the XL23 plate. On the ring finger I have the american flag hand painted. The pinky is OPI Alpine Snow and Dollish Polish It’s a Me Mario.

Fancy Friday #139 – Christmas manicure 2015

Merry Christmas. I hope you had a good Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I spent yesterday eating dinner with my aunt, uncle, cousins, grandmother, mom, dad and little sister before opening presents. Today we have just lounged around the home in sweatpants and christmas sweaters. Today is optional, but since I did a christmas manicure I thought I would show it to you. I actually included my manicure from last year as well, since I didn’t show you that last year. I also found my christmas manicure from 2012 that I hadn’t shown, so it is almost like a trip down memory lane 🙂

This was some of my very first nail art. The base is Essie Bobbing for Baubles. On my index and pinky I have one coat of Ninja Polish The Midas Touch. The christmas tree on my ring finger is done with tape and Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure and the star is from Wet n Wild Hollywood Walk of Fame. The snowflake is also done in Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure and with a small nail art brush.

I was inspired for this by The Nail Network. I used three coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff. The red dots are China Glaze Cranberry Splash, the green is Sally Hansen Jumpin’ Jade and the gold is OPI Golden Eye.

This year I went for a red skittlette. I was a little bit inspired by Lucy’s Stash and the way she used Zoya Posh. I started with three coats of Zoya Posh on my thumb, index, middle and pinky. On ring finger I did three coats of OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby. I used the same OPI polish and MoYou London Festive 03 plate to stamp snowflakes on my thumb and middle finger nails. Zoya Posh dries matte, but I top-coated it to bring out the glowing shimmer.

Thank you for this year. My next manicure will be my New Years Eve manicure that will be up the first day of the new year. Happy Holidays 🙂

Fancy Friday #136 – Elfs

Happy friday and happy december. All of the Fancy Friday post in December will have a christmas theme. The first theme is elfs, and I immediately thought of the christmas movie Elf, so that became my inspiration for today.

I started out with two coats of China Glaze Take A Hike on my index and pinky, and two coats of Zoya Chita on my thumb and middle nails. On my ring finger I started with two coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme, before doing the rest of the nail art with acrylic paint. I began with the yellow stockings, before finishing off the black elf shoes and the green jacket.

You only get one photo today, because the early nightfall is starting the bug me, so most of the photos came out a little blurry. I really hate the it starts getting dark so early, but soon it is changing again and getting lighter. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they came up with for today.

Fancy Friday #123 – Purple Minion Madness

Happy Friday. Today we are doing minions on our nails. I love the minion movies. I saw the third movie on the day it premiered in Denmark with my friend, who also got my minion socks for my birthday. I have some of the Glam Polish Mayhem and Madness Collection and decided to use of the polishes as my inspiration.

To do something different I decided to do the purple minions instead of the yellow ones. I started out with three coats of Glam Polish Purple Minion Madness, a red-toned purple with black and white round micro glitter and large black and white diamond-shaped glitters.

The base of the minion is OPI Planks A Lot. The overalls are Catrice How I Matt Your Mother and the hair is OPI Lost My Bikini in Molokini. The silver is done with Barry M Silver Foil, the black is acrylic paint and the white is OPI Alpine Snow, since the white acrylic paint wasn’t showing up.

I think they are super cute, they don’t look as mean as the ones in the movie, but that is totally okay. If you haven’t seen the minion movies yet, you totally should, they are so funny. Remember to check out the other ladies minion nails.

Fancy Friday #122 – Dreams

I immediately thought of dream catchers when I saw todays theme, so I created a little skittlette in purple and mint.

I was inspired for my dream catcher nail by Will Paint Nails for Food. I started with three coats of Happy Hands Lady Goodman on my index and pinky nail. Happy Hands unfortunately closed down their shop last year, but her polishes was really pretty. I used three coats of Barry M Sugar Apple for my thumb, middle and ring finger nails. I then used a small brush and black acrylic paint for the dream catcher. The feathers are done with OPI Hello Hawaii Ya? and OPI Lost My Bikini in Molokini. The pearls are Different Dimension Quasar, Dance Legend Thermo 167 and Picture Polish Lagoon.

 

On my thumb and middle nail and found a stamping plate that had different feather and bird images on and choose a larger full nail feather stamp. I used the MoYou London Tropical Collection plate 16 and Depend Black stamping polish. I finished off with a coat of Poshe top coat. Unfortunately the sun had chosen to go away right when I needed to take the pictures so the holographic effect of some of the pearls and the glitter on the index and pinky is lost. Fancy Friday #120 – Inspired by a TV show

So I had actually switched todays theme out with the one for next week in my mind, luckily I found out my mistake before I started doing the nails, but I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do, so I was some really quick nail art. I was inspired by Gossip Girl and decided to use one of my Gossip Girl x Nails Inc polishes.

I started with three coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff to keep the overall look more summery than using one of the darker bases that was in the Gossip Girl collection. I then topped all of the nails with two coats of Nails Inc High Society, a beautiful orange, yellow and green duo chrome flakie polish.

I really like how the flakies don’t stand out a lot over the light base, but when you move your fingers around they shine and catch the light. When I think Gossip Girl, I think high fashion, luxe fabrics and drama.

To bring a little bit more of the Gossip Girl tv show to the nails I painted xoxo on my thumb nail. I started doing it with OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby, but it didn’t show up enough, so I mixed LAMB with a little bit of OPI Black Onyx to deepen the shade for it to show up on the light base. Jeg havde ved en fejl for forbyttet næste uges tema med dennes uges, men heldigvis opdagede jeg det før jeg gik i gang, men så måtte jeg tænke hurtigt. Fancy Friday #119 – Rainbow

Happy Friday. Today is my birthday, I’m turning 22, and what better way to celebrate that with a little rainbow skittle on the nails. This manicure was completely copied from Sarah from Chalkboard Nails and her Rainbow Leopard Skittles, from the design to the nail polish colors, so all credit goes to her 🙂

I started with three coats of each of the neon shimmers from China Glaze. On my index I have I’m With the Lifeguard, on my middle nail I have Sun-Kissed, the ring finger is Orange You Hot? and the pinky is Surfin’ For Boys, these colors are super fun and bright. I then added the leopard print with a dotting tool for the white part which is OPI Alpine Snow and a small detail brush for the black outline which is OPI Black Onyx.

To complete the rainbow I have Splish Splash also from China Glaze. This manicure was super easy and quick to do, and you could vary the base colors for different results. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they have come up with for today.

Fancy Friday #118 – Inspired by a summer memory

So I’m back from vacation. It was two great and very hot weeks. I would not call the current Danish weather summer. It’s cloudy, windy and rainy most of the time, so it feels more like a fall day than the end of July. Hopefully the summer returns next week. I was inspired by a picture I took of a sunset in Florida back in 2009.

I just love the way the sunset colors blend together with the tiny hint of purple skies and the completely black palm trees in the front.

I started with two coats of China Glaze Happy Go Lucky, and then applied liquid latex around the nail to help with the clean up after the gradient. I did three coats of the gradient using OPI Live.Love.Carnaval closest to the cuticle, OPI Toucan Do It If You Try in the middle and the China Glaze at the tip.

After the base was dry I used a striping brush and black acrylic paint to paint the palm trees. I painted a stripe for the base, and four stripes for the base of the leaves. I then added tiny stripes to form the leaves. After the paint was dry I finished off with a coat of Poshe top coat. Remember to check out the other ladies by clicking on the blue frog.

Fancy Friday #116 – Festival

So today we are inspired by festivals. I have never been to one, the whole idea does not attract me. If I was going I would definitely go to Coachella, just because the weather is great and the festival seems really clean and the music is more me. When I think of festivals I think tie die or gradients with tribal prints and metallic tattoos.

I was inspired by a manicure done by @badgirlnails on Instagram so I recreated that on my thumb, middle and ring finger nails. I started with two coats of China Glaze Highlight of My Summer and then did the gradient with the China Glaze, Mesauda Aquamarine, Appeal4 Hopley’s Hope and China Glaze Plur-ple. I then painted the Aztec print with a striper brush, a small detail brush and black acrylic paint.

For the nails with the metallic tattoo, I just cut out the tattoo, removed the clear film and applied it with the pattern face down on the nail. I then wet a cotton swab with water and pressed the water on the decal until it came off the white backing paper. I sealed everything in with a topcoat.

I really liked how the gradient turned out, the colors flowed smoothly into each other. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they came up with for today’s theme.

I dag er vi inspireret af festivals. Jeg har aldrig været på en festival og har hellere ikke lyst til det, det skulle da lige være Coachella der ser rigtig hyggelig og ren ud. Fancy Friday #114 – Summer Drink – Watermelon Fizz

I love watermelons and since the weather have heated up quite a lot here in Denmark over the past couple of days, I can’t wait till tomorrow where I’m going to drink some watermelon fizz. I translated that drink onto my nails for this week’s Fancy Friday.

On my index, middle and ring finger I have three coats of Barry M Rose Hip, and on my pinky three coats of Essie Cute as a Button. I painted on tiny watermelons on my index and middle finger using a small nail art brush. The watermelons are done in the Essie polish, the rind is Barry M Kiwi and the white and black are OPI Alpine Snow and Black Onyx.

The ring finger is a glass of watermelon fizz. The glass is made in Appeal4 Frosty Dawn, the drink itself is the Essie polish dry brushed on, the ice cubes are made by mixing OPI Alpine Snow and Appeal4 Frosty Dawn. The little mint leaves are done with Barry M Kiwi, the straw in OPI Black Onyx, and the tiny little umbrella is made with Different Dimension Whatever 2.0 and the stem is in Appeal4 Rosebay Dust.

The bubble technique used on the thumb and pinky is done with watered down acrylic paint, a dotting tool and a dry brush. I dotted on the paint and had it sit on the nail for a couple of seconds, before using the dry brush to remove the remaining paint to leave an outline. These two nails represent to fizz in the drink.
