Fancy Friday #149 – Fun and games

So I had no clue about todays theme, so I didn’t have a chance to do something new for this week. It’s April Fool’s day, so that inspired me a bit as well as the fun part of the challenge. I found some old manicures I hadn’t shown yet, so that will have to do for today.

VDSC_1318

The first manicure is done with Picture Polish Fool’s Gold and Zoya Vega. I stamped on top with Depend White Stamping Polish and Bundle Monster XL24. The name Fool’s Gold reminded me of April Fool’s.

VDSC_0935

This is a really old manicure, back from 2012. This was the manicure I wore for my birthday that year. What is more fun than a birthday? I used Sally Hansen Be-Jeweled and Color Club Eternal Beauty.

VDSC_1445

The last manicure, is my 4th of July manicure from last year. I love celebrating 4th of July, the food, fireworks and spending time with my family. This year I’m flying into Boston on the 4th, so hopefully we will get to see some fireworks. I used China Glaze First Mate on my index and stamped white stars from Bundle Monster XL23, the middle is Orly Star Spangled and the white stripes are also from the XL23 plate. On the ring finger I have the american flag hand painted. The pinky is OPI Alpine Snow and Dollish Polish It’s a Me Mario.

Remember to click by the other ladies, who have been more creative than me today.

Fancy Friday #139 – Christmas manicure 2015

Merry Christmas. I hope you had a good Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I spent yesterday eating dinner with my aunt, uncle, cousins, grandmother, mom, dad and little sister before opening presents. Today we have just lounged around the home in sweatpants and christmas sweaters. Today is optional, but since I did a christmas manicure I thought I would show it to you. I actually included my manicure from last year as well, since I didn’t show you that last year. I also found my christmas manicure from 2012 that I hadn’t shown, so it is almost like a trip down memory lane 🙂

VDSC_0109

This was some of my very first nail art. The base is Essie Bobbing for Baubles. On my index and pinky I have one coat of Ninja Polish The Midas Touch. The christmas tree on my ring finger is done with tape and Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure and the star is from Wet n Wild Hollywood Walk of Fame. The snowflake is also done in Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure and with a small nail art brush.

VDSC_0433

I was inspired for this by The Nail Network. I used three coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff. The red dots are China Glaze Cranberry Splash, the green is Sally Hansen Jumpin’ Jade and the gold is OPI Golden Eye.

VDSC_1920

This year I went for a red skittlette. I was a little bit inspired by Lucy’s Stash and the way she used Zoya Posh. I started with three coats of Zoya Posh on my thumb, index, middle and pinky. On ring finger I did three coats of OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby. I used the same OPI polish and MoYou London Festive 03 plate to stamp snowflakes on my thumb and middle finger nails. Zoya Posh dries matte, but I top-coated it to bring out the glowing shimmer.

VDSC_1926

Thank you for this year. My next manicure will be my New Years Eve manicure that will be up the first day of the new year. Happy Holidays 🙂

Fancy Friday #136 – Elfs

Happy friday and happy december. All of the Fancy Friday post in December will have a christmas theme. The first theme is elfs, and I immediately thought of the christmas movie Elf, so that became my inspiration for today.

VDSC_1815

I started out with two coats of China Glaze Take A Hike on my index and pinky, and two coats of Zoya Chita on my thumb and middle nails. On my ring finger I started with two coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme, before doing the rest of the nail art with acrylic paint. I began with the yellow stockings, before finishing off the black elf shoes and the green jacket.

You only get one photo today, because the early nightfall is starting the bug me, so most of the photos came out a little blurry. I really hate the it starts getting dark so early, but soon it is changing again and getting lighter. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they came up with for today.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – 27 Dragmarble

We are entering into the last four days of the challenge. Today’s theme is dragmarble. I’m not entirely happy about today’s outcome. I think my inspiration photo was much better and of course after doing the nails I had a ton of other ideas. Typical 🙂

VDSC_0942

I was inspired by a manicure by Simple Little Pleasures on YouTube. She did a fiery manicure inspired by Hunger Games. I first applied a thinner coat of OPI Alpine Snow and then did a thicker coat on nail at a time. I then dragged a toothpick with polish on through the wet polish with a light hand. I used OPI Jinx, Gosh Frosted Gold and Zoya Chyna.

VDSC_0951

I don’t know what it is with me and applying wet polish to wet polish, it looks so cool and simple when other people do it, but when I do it, it turns out so differently. I might try out some of my other ideas another time. My family all think my nails looked really cool, so it might just be me.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 15 Fan Brush

Today’s theme is fan brush. Something I never tried before, so today was the day.  I took a quick trip on google image search and looked at some different fan brush manicures, to get an idea of what you could do.

VDSC_0783

I started with three coats of Orly Au Champagne, a shimmering white satin finish polish. I was getting a bit tired of using OPI Alpine Snow, so something new needed to happen. I then dropped out some of Zoya Savita for the index and ring finger nail and brushed it on one side of the nail. On my middle and pinky nail I have Wet n Wild Buffy the Violet Slayer.

VDSC_0796

I when over the lines a couple of times to build up intensity in the polish. I don’t know what happened to the nails with the Wet n Wild polish but the top coat seemed to blur the lines, even though it didn’t drag the polish. So they look like they are out of focus, but that is the way the look in real life. The technique was super simple and I would definitely try it out again.

Fancy Friday #97 – Astronomy

Happy friday. I can’t believe it’s already March, where is time going? Today we are looking to the stars to get inspired, because todays theme is astronomy. I did galaxy nails with an accent nail on the thumb.

VDSC_0588

I was inspired by the purple galaxy nail art from Lucy’s Stash. I started with two coats of Zoya Payton. I then sponged on Revlon Passionate Pink in random patterns on the nail. I then sponged with OPI Alpine Snow, and OPI Honk If You Love OPI. I then sponged very little of China Glaze When Stars Collide on the edges and then dotted and drew stars with Alpine Snow. I finished with a coat of INM Northern Light top coat to add some more sparkle.

VDSC_0591

On my thumb I painted three coats of Emily de Molly Cosmic Forces. I then did dots in the pattern of the star constellation of the Leo which is my sign. I then added the lines between the stars. I finished with a coat of Seche Vite. I really love this nail art. Click on the blue blob to see the what the other ladies did, I know that there is a couple of galaxies and star constellations between 🙂

Fancy Friday #73 – Inspired by Fall

I love those beginning stages of Fall, when you can smell the cold in the air, but it’s still warm enough to wear a leather jacket and sneakers. When the leaves are starting to change and the sun is still warm. When the leaves are all gone and it’s so cold you can see your own breath, then I wish for Spring and Summer to come back 🙂 This year I was inspired by the leaves and the trees and the pretty colors.

VDSC_0153

I started out with three coats of Zoya Blaze, a super pretty deep red scattered holographic jelly polish (that was a mouthful). The I looked at my stamping plates to find something Fall like. I found this super pretty stamp with maple leaves on it on my Bundle Monster H11 plate. I used three different polishes for the stamp. On my pinky I stamped with Orly Solid Gold, on my ring and index finger with Sally Hansen Liquid Gold and on my middle finger with a-England Excalibur.

VDSC_0165

Here you can see the a-England shade better, it gets a little washed out in direct lightning, but indoors and in the shade, it looks really pretty with the silver and gold. The Sally Hansen shade stamped really well, but chrome and metallic polishes usually do. Click on the blue blob to see what the other ladies have done today.

Fancy Friday #38 – Go to Manicure

This is probably the most simple manicure I have done in the all the fancy friday’s until now. Todays theme was favorite technique or go to mani. I don’t think I have a favorite technique, I do really like watermarbles, but I wasn’t in a mood to play with that. So I opted for a type of polish I have worn when I’m not wearing nail art. The texture polishes. I love this trend and have 40 different textures and a couple more on my wish list. Today is one of my all time favorites, Zoya Carter.

VCrop of 0274

Both photos today have been taken with my iPhone 4s. My DSLR turned the color different and would not focus because of not that much light and the fact that my hand could keep still, so I turned to my iPhone and the pictures actually came out pretty good. This polish is pure awesome, the darker purple glitter with the brighter more magenta glitter that dries to that perfect pixiedust finish, is perfection in a bottle. I love wearing textures, both because the look great, wear well and because they are not as tough to remove as glitter nail polish is.

VIMG_0725

This macro photo was taken with my Ollo clip macro lens which I don’t use often enough. This photo shows the glitterness and the grittyness of the polish. If you haven’t tried texture polish yet, run out and get some because they are great. Click the blue blob to see what the other ladies have come up with today.

Fancy Friday #36 – Naked

Today we are doing naked nails, so I wanted to show you what my completely naked nails look like, as well as a nude polish look.

VDSC_1661

I am not wearing any polish in this photo, not even the Rejuvacote that I’m holding, just so you can see what my nails look like without polish. I’m wearing polish 99% of the time. Only time they are naked is between changing polish, and how long that is depend on how busy I am.

VDSC_1686

Here is how you can wear polish, if you are not into strong colors or have to wear a nude or conservative color for work. On my index, middle and pinky I’m wearing three coats of Zoya Godiva, the prettiest nude texture polish with silver sparkle. This color is so pretty and sparkly. On my ring finger I’m wearing two coats of OPI My Very First Knockwurst and a coat of Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow. This look is sparkly, while still being nude and not in your face.

Check out the other ladies nude look, I know some of them also showed their naked nails.

4th of July Manicures

Tomorrow is the 4th of July in the US, and even though I’m spending the day in Denmark I did something fun on my nails. Last year we traveled to the US a couple of days after 4th of July but we celebrated it in the garden with some friends, BBQ and a Boston Creme Pie. I did two set of nails, one for the day and then I redid then a couple of days later before we traveled to the US but keeping the design almost the same.

VDSC_0768

Last year I used two coats of Barry M Blue Moon, two coats of Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday (it’s the constitutions birthday after all and it reminded me of fireworks) and then I topped it off with one coat of Blue Moon. On my ring finger I did the same flag design I did for the 4th of July in Atlanta in 2011, using Orly Star Spangled, and Stripe Rite in Blue and White 🙂 One the day I wore the same manicure except I used Essie Marshmallow for the glitter sandwich nails.

This year I actually went to a Family Picnic at the American Ambassador residency here in Denmark. It’s been a couple of years since they held it, because the previous ambassador only wanted to have a party with CEO’s and important Danish people, but since she traveled home early this year and the new ambassador is not here yet, we had the chance to do it again. It’s super fun and there is a lot of different American food and a raffle. I actually won a box with ten boxes of chocolate in it.

VDSC_0613

I wore this design on my left hand. Index finger is two coats of China Glaze White on White. I used a star cut-out on painters tape and China Glaze Splish Splash and China Glaze Hey Sailor. Check out this tutorial by Sarah from Chalkboard Nails. Her stars are a bit smaller than mine were. On my middle finger I did a water marble inspired by My Simple Little Pleasures’ tutorial here. I used China Glaze White on White, First Mate and Hey Sailor. On my ring finger I did my standard flag using Orly Star Spangled, China Glaze White on White and First Mate. On my pinky I used China Glaze White on White, JENsations New England Patriots and a layer of Essie Marshmallow.

VDSC_0617

On my thumb I did a flag design but I used textured polishes for a different look. Zoya Chyna for the red color, Kiko Sea Blue for the blue and OPI Solitaire for the white.

VDSC_0633

On my right hand I used the same colors and designs, but did the textured flag on the ring finger instead. My water marble turned out completely different even though I did the same design and dropped the colors the same way.

VDSC_0627

I did the regular flag design on my thumb. I got tons of compliments, and really enjoyed wearing the different designs. See you all friday for the next design in Fancy Friday. This week is tape. Happy 4th of July to those of you who are in the US or celebrating it anywhere else in the world.
