Fancy Friday #150 – Dots

Happy friday. I’m loving the longer days, and the bushes are starting to turn green. I was inspired for todays manicure by Kelli Marissa formerly known as The Nail Polish Challenge. She did a really cute pastel neon dotted manicure. You can find the original on her Instagram account.

VDSC_0021

I started with three coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme. Once that was dry I dotted the first curved line with China Glaze Feel The Breeze. I continued with Cult Nails Love at 1st Sight, China Glaze Boho Blues, China Glaze Treble Maker and finally China Glaze Highlight of my Summer.

VDSC_0020

I varied the placement of the dots on the nails so it wasn’t the same pattern on all the nails. I wish I had used some more pastel colors. The pink and purple where a little to muted or dark looking back. Remember to click by the other ladies.

Fancy Friday #145 – Inspired by a cake

Happy Friday. I’m finally feeling better again after the flu. Todays theme is cakes, I have previously done cupcakes and another nail art inspired by cakes, which can be seen here and here. I went to google, to get inspired for todays nail art, and scrolled through a lot of cakes before finding this one on Weddbook.com.

I really liked the different textures and designs on this cake, and could instantly see this done as a skittlette. I also found some other cakes, that I have saved in my inspiration folder, if I run out of ideas in the future.

VDSC_2128

I started with three coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme on my index and middle finger, before stamping with MoYou London Black Knight and MoYou London Holy Shapes 08 Plate. I turned the striped design on its side so the lines matched with the bottom tier of the cake. The didn’t stamp quite straight, even though I tried to stamp them on straight, and of course my index finger smudged a bit with the topcoat even though I waited a couple of minutes for it to dry.

VDSC_2138

On my middle finger nail I have two coats of Barry M Gold Foil, to represent the middle tier on the cake. On my pinky nail I painted two coats of Illamasqua Scorn, a beautiful matte/satin black polish. After that dried I dotted with Barry M Gold Foil and a medium large dotting tool. I left out the top coat on this nail to  have a contrast between the dots and the base, just like on the cake.

VDSC_2145

I did the same design on my thumb as my pinky. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they did for today.

Fancy Friday #143 – Marbling

Happy Friday from snowy Austria. I’m on my last day of our skiing vacation, I had such a great time here this past week, and I don’t wanna go home to my everyday life. I did these nails the day before I left, and after the first day of skiing with gloves on, the white nails had turned cream-colored, and after a couple of days the silver stamping and the silver glitter had a gold hue. I don’t know what happened, I have never had a nail polish turn a different color on me, after a couple of days of wear.

VDSC_2068

I went the easy route for this nail art, since I didn’t have a lot of time to complete it. I saw this technique on OhMyGoshPolish on YouTube and it was so simple. I painted two coats of H&M Mauve It on my thumb, index and pinky nail and three coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme on my middle and ring finger. I stamped with Barry M Silver Foil and MoYou London Holy Shapes 08 plate on the thumb and index nails, and I painted two coats of Essie Silver Bullions on my pinky nail. For the marble dots on my middle and ring finger, I just swirled Mauve It and French White Creme together without blending it all the way, and then I just dipped my dotting tool in the colors and dotted it on my nails.

VDSC_2082

Opening and closing ski boots and carrying ski’s lead to three breaks on my nails, so they look a little wonky, because I refuse to file them all the way down. I have to think about next week, because that theme is Bollywood, and I’m not sure what to do. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they did for today.

Fancy Friday #139 – Christmas manicure 2015

Merry Christmas. I hope you had a good Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I spent yesterday eating dinner with my aunt, uncle, cousins, grandmother, mom, dad and little sister before opening presents. Today we have just lounged around the home in sweatpants and christmas sweaters. Today is optional, but since I did a christmas manicure I thought I would show it to you. I actually included my manicure from last year as well, since I didn’t show you that last year. I also found my christmas manicure from 2012 that I hadn’t shown, so it is almost like a trip down memory lane 🙂

VDSC_0109

This was some of my very first nail art. The base is Essie Bobbing for Baubles. On my index and pinky I have one coat of Ninja Polish The Midas Touch. The christmas tree on my ring finger is done with tape and Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure and the star is from Wet n Wild Hollywood Walk of Fame. The snowflake is also done in Sally Hansen Gilty Pleasure and with a small nail art brush.

VDSC_0433

I was inspired for this by The Nail Network. I used three coats of OPI My Vampire Is Buff. The red dots are China Glaze Cranberry Splash, the green is Sally Hansen Jumpin’ Jade and the gold is OPI Golden Eye.

VDSC_1920

This year I went for a red skittlette. I was a little bit inspired by Lucy’s Stash and the way she used Zoya Posh. I started with three coats of Zoya Posh on my thumb, index, middle and pinky. On ring finger I did three coats of OPI Love.Angel.Music.Baby. I used the same OPI polish and MoYou London Festive 03 plate to stamp snowflakes on my thumb and middle finger nails. Zoya Posh dries matte, but I top-coated it to bring out the glowing shimmer.

VDSC_1926

Thank you for this year. My next manicure will be my New Years Eve manicure that will be up the first day of the new year. Happy Holidays 🙂

Fancy Friday #117 – Inspired by a magazine

I was completely lost for ideas for this theme, so I just started looking through some magazines to see if there was any nail art in them. I found a multicolored dotticure and decided to recreate it with some different colors. I used the same colors as last week, just because I was wearing the two manicures at the same time and it didn’t seem to weird when they had the same colors.

VDSC_1468

I started with three coats of Essie Ballet Slippers, to even out the color on my nails and then I used two different sized dotting tools to create the dots. I used China Glaze Highlight of my Summer, China Glaze Plur-ple, Appeal4 Hopley’s Hope, Mesauda Aquamarine and Barry M Gold Foil.

VDSC_1494

I really liked how it turned out, and the pop of gold gave it a little extra sparkle. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they have done for today.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 30 Dots

Today’s theme is dots. It is the very last day of our #WeekendOffNailArtChallenge. It has been such a fun month, but also quite hard, because sometimes I have not gotten to enjoy the nail art I did for very long, before having to change my polish again. I also think my nails and fingers will thank me a bit, because they have been a bit dry this month. I will do a round-up post Monday, so you can see all the nail art I have done for this challenge.

VDSC_1054

I was inspired by Nailstorming on YouTube and Instagram, who have done some cool dotted gradient nails. I started with two coats of Essie Ballet Slippers, just to give my nails a bit more pink and to cover the staining of my nail beds. I then used China Glaze Feel The Breeze, China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy, China Glaze Pool Party and Orly Beach Cruiser for the dots, and two different size dotting tools.

VDSC_1043

Bonus shot of my nails under LED light. I just love how neons glow under a black light. I also can’t wait to wear neons on my fingers all summer long, how I have missed them. Remember to check back in tomorrow for Fancy Friday.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 10 / Fancy Friday #102 – Orange

Today’s theme is orange. I long time ago, a theme in Fancy Friday was sideway french – click here to see that. I still love that manicure. To not just do a plain swatch I decided to do a sideway french dotted manicure with orange shades.

VDSC_0728

I started with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. I then added dots using two different sized dotting tools, even though the almost turned out the same size on the nail. I used OPI Toucan Do It If You Try, China Glaze Sun of a Peach, Kiko Apricot and Models Own Copper Pot to get a little sparkle.

VDSC_0731

I really liked how the sideway french dots looked. It was super easy to do, and a twist on the more classic dotted french tip. I’m not a huge fan of orange, but a little orange on a white base was quite nice.

Fancy Friday #91 – Recreate another Fancy Friday Mani

Today was not a good day, but luckily it’s friday and this challenge was fun. It took some time looking through all the other ladies previous manicures, and it was quite hard to narrow down which one I was recreating.

fancy friday skittlette recreate

My choice fell on this skittelette manicures from Louise from Nails Always Polished. I have major nail envy, her nail beds are long and nice. Louise used my favorite polish Pacific Blue from Sally Hansen.

VDSC_0544

I used two coats of Pacific Blue on my thumb and index. On my middle I used two coats of OPI Black Onyx, after it dried a bit, I used a medium-sized dotting tool and OPI Alpine Snow to create the dots. On my pinky I used two coats of Gosh Frosted Silver.

VDSC_0524

Turns out Louise choose my favorites manicure, the splatter using Pacific Blue to recreate. What a coincidence 🙂 Take a look around the other blogs, by clicking on the blue blob, it’s really fun to see the recreations. We should totally do it again, because I know the other ladies also had trouble narrowing down their selections.

Fancy Friday #84 – Inspired by christmas decorations

Happy friday, it’s officially december and we are getting closer and closer to christmas. I’m kind of freaking out since I have a lot to do before the 24th. I have already figured out how our christmas tree is going to be decorated so that is great. For today’s inspiration I looked in our many boxes of christmas decorations and found some of my favorite baubles. They are a pearly white with silver glitter details.

VDSC_0402

I started with three coats of Orly Au Champagne as my base. Then with a small detailing brush I painted swirls on my middle finger with OPI My Signature Is “DC”. With the same polish and brush I painted a snowflake and some dots on my ring finger. With a striper brush and the same silver polish I made stripes on my index and pinky nails. After letting it dry I went over the lines and dots with a small brush and a England Merlin to get the glitter effect. I finished off with a coat of Poshe.

VDSC_0405

I love snowflakes for winter and christmas manicures. I think they ended up looking a lot like the baubles and I can’t wait to decorate our christmas tree. The next two friday’s are also inspired by christmas. Click on the blue blob to see what christmas decorations the other ladies was inspired by.

Fancy Friday #70 – Around the World

I had a million ideas floating around in my head, from flags to the earth to the milky way. I googled a bit around looking at world maps, and found this cool dotted world map.

dotted-world-map

My nails ended up being an abstract version of the world, inspired by the world map. Instead of the blue colors I found three green colors, to resemble the world just a bit more.

VDSC_0099

I started with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow, and then dotted with Essie Navigate Her, Astor Forest Green and OPI AmazOn…AmazOff. My index is inspired by Europe, my middle is South America, the ring finger is Africa and the pinky is Australia. I dotted with three different size dotting tools and varied the colors I dotted with. Click on the blue blob to check out what the other ladies have come up with.
