Fancy Friday #152 – Up and down (Gradient)

Happy belated Friday. I’m a bit late with this weeks post, but I had a Confirmation on Friday, and forgot to schedule the post before I left in the morning.

VDSC_0297

This is an old manicure from 2013. I didn’t have time to do something new for this week that fit with the theme. I was not sure what the prompt meant, so I took it quite literally, and figured since a gradient is done with up and down motions it must count.

VDSC_0300

I used three of the polishes from the original 80’s Baby Collection from Different Dimension. On my index I have Ditz, the middle is Whatever and the pinky is Homeboy. The gradient is done with all three Ditz at the cuticle, Whatever in the middle and Homeboy at the tip. This was actually my very first gradient, so the color blending is not as great.

Fancy Friday #151 – Water decals

So today’s theme is actually “something different”. I have never used water decals, so that was something different for me. I had some really cute ones with flowers on them, that I decided to use.

VDSC_0026

I started with three coats of Different Dimension Tulips Are Better Than One. It is a really pretty multi-chrome aqua, purple, pink polish. It is a little sheer but builds up nicely. The water decals are from Born Pretty Store. I started with two coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme as the base, since the background of the water decals was white. They were a bit too slim for my nails, but it is not too obvious.

VDSC_0052

For my pinky I also did two coats of the white Wet n Wild polish, and topped it with a square and round pastel purple stud, also from Born Pretty Store. I really like the water decals, they were super easy to use, I just wish that they were a bit wider, because the length was fine on them.

VDSC_0047

Here you can see a little bit more of the multi-chrome polish, but pictures does not do this polish justice. We are having an issue with the Inlinkz, but as soon as it is working again, I’ll update the post with the link.

Fancy Friday #148 – Nimbus nail art

Happy Good Friday. I hope you had a good week and is enjoying the Easter break. Today we are doing Nimbus or Halo nail art. The original artist behind this technique is Sammy from The Nailasaurus. You can see the last time I did Nimbus nail art right here. It was in the same color scheme as this time, but that was not on purpose.

VDSC_0051

I did three coats of Appeal4 Out of this World on my thumb and index nail. On the other nails I started out with two coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme. On my pinky I topped that with one coat of Kiko 230 Sparkle Touch Rainbow Glitter. It is a little hard to see, but it is an iridescent glitter. For the Nimbus nails I used OPI Planks a Lot, Kiko 504 Pearly Glaze Pink, Different Dimension Aria, H&M Marsala Chai and Appeal4 Out of this World, and just layered them.

VDSC_0058

The last couple of days the sun have been shining, but of course it is raining the day I need to take photos, so the holographic polish on my index didn’t show up as well, so here is a flash photo to show the holographicness. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they did for today.

Fancy Friday #137 – Christmas tradition

Happy Friday. Today the theme is christmas traditions. In my family we have for a lot of years, cut down our own Christmas tree, around the middle of December. For the past couple of years, my mom and dad have been out-of-town on a christmas trip during the weekend we get our christmas tree, so it have been me and my sisters job to choose the tree. This Sunday we are getting a tree, so what was more fitting than to put on some christmas trees on my nails?

VDSC_1834

I started with three coats of Deborah Lippmann You Got Me Started, a dove grey creme. On my middle and ring finger, I painted an abstract christmas tree inspired by OhMyGoshPolish. I used Illamasqua Swinger topped with Different Dimension Sexy and I Know It on my middle finger. On my ring finger I did the christmas tree in OPI My Voice is a Little Norse. The stars are from Barry M Starlight. My pinky is topped with a coat of China Glaze Razzle Me Dazzle Me.

VDSC_1853

I think the christmas trees turned out really cute, I really like the holographic glitters, it adds a little extra. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they did for today.

Fancy Friday #122 – Dreams

I immediately thought of dream catchers when I saw todays theme, so I created a little skittlette in purple and mint.

VDSC_1445

I was inspired for my dream catcher nail by Will Paint Nails for Food. I started with three coats of Happy Hands Lady Goodman on my index and pinky nail. Happy Hands unfortunately closed down their shop last year, but her polishes was really pretty. I used three coats of Barry M Sugar Apple for my thumb, middle and ring finger nails. I then used a small brush and black acrylic paint for the dream catcher. The feathers are done with OPI Hello Hawaii Ya? and OPI Lost My Bikini in Molokini. The pearls are Different Dimension Quasar, Dance Legend Thermo 167 and Picture Polish Lagoon.

VDSC_1459 crop

On my thumb and middle nail and found a stamping plate that had different feather and bird images on and choose a larger full nail feather stamp. I used the MoYou London Tropical Collection plate 16 and Depend Black stamping polish. I finished off with a coat of Poshe top coat. Unfortunately the sun had chosen to go away right when I needed to take the pictures so the holographic effect of some of the pearls and the glitter on the index and pinky is lost. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they have done for today.

Fancy Friday #108 – Inspired by a religion

Happy friday. When I first saw this theme, I was like what am I going to do? I could do crosses or the yin and yang sign, but that was to obvious for me. So I googled weird religions and found out about a parody religion called The Invisible Pink Unicorn. That was perfect, so after looking at google images this is what I came up with.

VDSC_1131

I started with three coats of Milani Pink Flare on my index and pinky nail. Pink Flare is supposed to be a dupe for OPI Teenage Dream, a polish I regret not getting when it came out. On my middle and ring finger I have three coats of Barry M Rose Hip stamped with MoYou Happy Birthday 01 and Different Dimension Ditz 2.0.

VDSC_1140

On my thumb I started with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow and then I did a coat of Finger Paints Vivid Reflection, a pink/orange/white flakie. It is not that visible in photos or in real life but I adds a little bit of sparkle when you move your finger. I then painted the logo for the religion with Revlon Passionate Pink and a small detail brush.

VDSC_1151

Pretty fun challenge, once I found out what I wanted to do. Remember to click on the little frog below to see what the other ladies have come up with for today.

Fancy Friday #105 – Happy 2nd Birthday

Happy friday. Today we are celebrating the second birthday of our little nail art group. It has been so much fun participating. I have gotten so much better at nail art and tried so many new techniques that I wouldn’t have without this group.

VDSC_1074

If you saw my nail art for the first birthday I did last year, I had drawn a balloon on my index nail. I loved that so much that I decided to do it on all of my nails this year. I picked up five holographic polishes, and painted a half-moon shape on my nails. The index finger is Fnug Psychedelic, the middle is A England Fonteyn, the ring is Different Dimension This Is Halloween and the pinky is Ninja Polish Glamorous. The base is three coats of OPI My Vampire is Buff.

VDSC_1069

On my thumb is used Different Dimension Excelsior. I outline the balloons and drew a string with OPI Alpine Snow. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what the did for today.

I dag fejre vi to-års fødselsdag for Fælles Fredag. Jeg har tegnet holografiske balloner på neglene. Husk at klikke forbi de andre for at se hvad de har lavet i dag.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 23 Animals

Today’s theme is animals. I don’t know if a purple leopard with pink, white and holographic spots exists but wouldn’t that be awesome. I have had the glitter topper for a couple of months so it was time to use it.

VDSC_0938

I started with two coats of Essie Coat Couture, a matte purple polish with blue shimmer. A really liked this polish but it was a tiny bit uneven at two coats so if I hadn’t added another polish on top, I would probably have done a third coat. The glitter topper is Different Dimension Feelin’ Spotty, which consists of tiny holographic glitter, small white hex glitter, small pink and holographic round glitters, medium-sized white, pink and holographic round glitter and finally white, pink and holographic leopard glitter.

VDSC_0930

I applied a normal coat of the glitter and then dumped some out on a piece of paper where I then picked up the leopard glitter and placed them where I wanted. I also picked up some of the regular glitters and applied them in spots that needed a bit more using a dotting tool. I applied a coat of Gelous to create smooth finish and topped it with a coat of Seche Vite. Feelin’ Spotty is a super fun polish and the glitters sparkle in the sun.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 21 Love

Today’s theme is love. A long time ago The Nailasaurus did a heartbeat manicure, and I remembered it when I saw the love theme. Because of my exam I did todays nail art on my right hand to be able to enjoy it longer.

VDSC_0925

The vinyls I used are from TwinkledT. I used the skinny heartbeat ones on my thumb, index, middle and pinky and a sketched heart one on my ring finger. The sketched heart was extremely difficult to get of the paper without tearing it completely as well as removing it from the nail afterwards. I used three coats of Maybelline Wine Shimmer on my thumb and middle nail and Essie Just Stitched on the index and pinky nail. The gold holographic on my ring finger is Different Dimension All That Glitters is not Gold.

VDSC_0920

I topped the vinyls with OPI Black Onyx and removed them immediately after polishing over them. I like the heart of gold, but the heartbeats also turned out really nice.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 7 Red

Today’s theme is red. In my head red is very much connected to roses. So I looked at different pictures of rose nail art on Google, and found this really pretty rose nail art by Sarah from Chalkboard Nails. I was really inspired by her pretty roses and placement, that I recreated it.

VDSC_0719

I started with three coats of Different Dimension Ready, Set, Snow, a white/grey scattered holographic creme polish. I then created the roses using China Glaze Hey Sailor, Cult Nails Quench and OPI Alpine Snow. I also mixed a drop of Hey Sailor and Alpine Snow to create a lighter pink to also highlight with. The base of the leaf is Essie Mojito Madness and the darker green is Cult Nails Flash.

VDSC_0725

I created the base of the rose with a large dotting tool, and the details with a fine detailing brush. I finished with a coat of Seche Vite. The larger roses are my favorites, because the got a more uneven edge making them look more like roses, where my smaller roses was more completely round.
