Fancy Friday #170 – Ocean

Happy Friday. Today the theme is the ocean, specifically the Mediterranean.

vdsc_1238

I found a manicure I hadn’t posted yet, that fit into this theme. I used two coats of Barry M Sky Blue and two coats of Revlon Whimsical. The color represent the ocean, while the blue and pink glitter can be the seashells. The white stamping is how the sunlight catches the reflection of the water. The stamping is from the Bundle Monster XL16 plate.

Fancy Friday #169 – Danish summer

Happy Friday. Today’s theme is Danish summer. This the weather have been very rainy, at least for the most part. I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in the US and 4 days in Malaga, so I got some sunshine and warmth.

vdsc_0637

I choose to do a grey waterfall manicure to represent the grey skies and rain we had, but I added a touch of gold, to represent the days of sunshine. I started with three coats of Illamsqua Raindrops. I then did a waterfall manicure using OPI Black Onyx, Picture Polish Winter, a England Encore Margot and China Glaze I’m Not Lion.

Fancy Friday #159 – Holographic

Happy belated friday. Time escaped from me yesterday, even though I did these nails thursday night. The weather have been sunny so what better time than now to bust out the holographic polishes.

VDSC_0252

I did a water marble with a touch of holographic. I started with three coats of Essie Hubby for Dessert. I water marbled with that, Essie Bangle Jangle, OPI Sleigh Parking Only and Appeal4 Marsmallow Holo. I drew a petal design in it and dipped my nails.

VDSC_0250

The pattern turned out really nice, and the pop of holographic really comes out the play in the sun. It has been a while since I have water marbled, so it was nice to do it again, even though it takes a while and is a little messy.

Fancy Friday #134 – Lace

Happy Friday. Today the theme is lace. I was both inspired by the actual bottle of the nail polish I was using, as well as a manicure done by one of my fellow Fancy Friday bloggers – Nails Always Polished.

VDSC_1769

I started with three coats of Essie Hubby For Dessert. The Essie polish is from their Bridal 2015 collection, and is a soft lilac jelly. It actually covered pretty well in three coats. For the stamping I used OPI Alpine Snow and the MoYou London Bridal 07 plate. My Alpine Snow is getting low and quite thick, so it doesn’t really work well as a base color anymore, but because of the thickness it works for stamping.

VDSC_1772

The result is really soft and feminine. It would work well as a bridal manicure, but if you wanted a bit more drama, you could stamp with black instead or add rhinestones. On the bottle cap of the Essie polish there is a faint lace pattern.

VDSC_1775

I took a picture up close of the polish cap, so you can see the lace detail. It is actually a nice touch; I don’t see many polishes with a decorated cap. It wasn’t till I had the polish in my hands, that I saw the pattern; none of the swatchers online mentioned it. Remember to click by to see what the other ladies did.

Fancy Friday #95 – Multicolored Stamping

Hello and happy friday. The weather in Denmark is grey and rainy, which affected the lightning in my pictures a little. I can’t wait for spring and summer, it makes it so much easier to take photos outside. Today we are doing multicolored stamping, something I never done before, but it is quite easy.

VDSC_0535

I started with four coats of Dance Legend Sadness. It was quite sheer since it’s a jelly, I could have stopped at three coats, but I felt that you could still see the nail line through the polish, but the fourth coat took care of that. I then stamped using MoYou London Fashionista 07 and a England Sleeping Palace (the darkest color) and Crown of Thistles (the lighter purple). In the next photo, you can really see the beautiful holographicness of these two polishes.

VDSC_0546

I used my new stamper from Creative Shop. It stamped really well, I still have to play a bit more with it to get used to it. The stamper is not as squishy as the marshmallow stamper I have been using for the past 1 1/2 years, but it does pick up the image well. I had a bit of trouble with the placement, how much pressure to apply when picking up the image and stamping it on the nail. I got my stamper from Hypnotic Polish, it’s not the cheapest stamper but I really like that it don’t pick up every piece of lint it even looks at, like the squishy ones and that it stays put in the holder. It’s on pre-sale in the shop right now, so just follow the link above to purchase it.

Fancy Friday #83 – Leadlight Technique

Hello and happy friday. Today we are doing the leadlight technique, which is basically coloring in a stamp with jelly polishes.

VDSC_0379

I started out with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow and then I stamped with Depend Black Stamping Polish and MoYou London Kaleidoscope 06. Then I colored in my stamp using a dotting tool with three of the OPI sorbet polishes from the Texas Collection – Guy Meets Gal-Veston, Too Hot Pink To Hold’Em and Houston We Have a Purple. I really like the look and it looks a bit like a stained glass window. Click on the blue blob to see what the other ladies have done for today.

Fancy Friday #64 – Cloud Mani

Hello and happy friday. Today we are doing the cloud mani technique first thought out by Nailside. Nailside unfortunately doesn’t blog anymore, but her blog can be found right here if you want to check her very cool tape nail art out.

VCrop IMG_0825

I started with three coats of Cult Nails Scandalous, a sorbet orange jelly. It dried very shiny. Then I added the first row of clouds with Flormar 7, a metallic gold polish. After that I added the second row of clouds with Cult Nails Captivated, an orange jelly with glitter.

VCrop IMG_0830

The colors may have been a tad bit to close to each other to really tell the apart, but it was more obvious in real life than in these photos. If I try this technique out again I will choose some colors that stand a bit more out from each other. Click on the blue blob to check out the other ladies cloud manicure.

Fancy Friday #32 – Green Fingers

Today the theme was a color, green. I like green. I found out I have 63 green polishes. Today I have 4 of them for you. I did a simple manicure, with some glitter, flakes and creme finishes.

VDSC_1523

On my index I started out with two coats of Gosh Forest Floor, a dark green creme. It covered really well and I could have gotten away with one coat. I then did a glitter gradient at the base of the nail with Nubar Grass Green Glitter. On my middle finger I used three coats of China Glaze Running in Circles, a bright green glassfleck polish. On my ring finger and thumb I did three coats of Cult Nails Coveted, a dark green jelly shimmer with flakes. On my pinky I did the same as on my index.

It’s more of a quite manicure compared to some of the previous weeks, but sometimes it’s nice to just polish your nails and let it be. I know I have missed just doing that, since I have mostly worn designs for Fancy Friday for a long time. If you want to see what the others came up with for today, just click on the blue blob.

Fancy Friday #14 – Flowers in a pond

I don’t know if you seen the flowers in a pond manicure around the blogosphere, but todays theme is just that or a version of a jelly sandwich manicure. I first wanted to do something different and tried with some different shapes with silver holographic glequins, but that didn’t turn out like I imagined so I went back to the original idea.

VDSC_0912

I started with two coats of China Glaze White on White because I didn’t want to deal with the visible nail line. I used OPI Houston we have a Purple from the Texas Collection from 2011. After the first coat I tried doing different shapes with glequins, but I didn’t have the effect I thought so I went with a dotting tool and flowers in different sizes instead.

VDSC_0922

In the shade you can see the different layers a bit better, but it looked much better in real life. It’s a fun way to use a jelly polish, but I do prefer the glitter sandwich. Too see what the others did today just click on the link in the bottom.

I dag er temaet flowers in a pond eller 3D jelly manicure. Jeg valgte at lave blomster og så ligger en jelly lak over so blomsterne så ud som om de flyder i lakken. For at se hvad de andre har lavet så klik på linket i bunden.

Gosh – Gasoline

This is a polish from the Danish makeup brand Gosh. The make some awesome polishes and their most famous one, which is also discontinued is Holographic, but I have some good news. It’s going to be back this fall at least in Denmark. So if you have been longing for this polish but not wanted to pay the prices on Ebay, then it will be easier to get it in the fall.

But today I have Gasoline for you. It’s a purple jelly polish with purple, silver, blue and pink shimmer in it. It takes three coats to get opaque but it is really beautiful. It’s lighter than OPI Grape…Set…Match from last years Serena Williams Wimbledon collection if you where wondering, I know I was.

Heres is a macro photo so you can see all the pretty shimmer in it.
