Fancy Friday #162 – Fishtail Nail art

Happy Friday. It is almost time for my vacation, and I can’t wait to find some sunshine and heath after the miserable weather we have been having in Denmark for the past week. I actually chose the theme for today, which is fishtail or braided nail art. I used this tutorial from Lucy’s Stash

VDSC_0287

I started with two coats of Cult Nails Love at 1st Sight on my thumb, index, middle and ring finger nails. On my pinky I have two coats of Mesauda Aquamarine topped with one coat of Claire’s Glam. I used the Cult Nails polish, the Mesuada polish and Essie Nothing Else Metals for the braided nails.

VDSC_0302

I just alternated between the different colors until I reached the end of the nail. I took a little longer than I expected because I had to grasp the technique and the colors had to dry in between. Next time I will try to make the lines a little wider so I don’t need as many to complete the whole nail. I really like to pop of chrome in between the two creme colors.

Fancy Friday #150 – Dots

Happy friday. I’m loving the longer days, and the bushes are starting to turn green. I was inspired for todays manicure by Kelli Marissa formerly known as The Nail Polish Challenge. She did a really cute pastel neon dotted manicure. You can find the original on her Instagram account.

VDSC_0021

I started with three coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme. Once that was dry I dotted the first curved line with China Glaze Feel The Breeze. I continued with Cult Nails Love at 1st Sight, China Glaze Boho Blues, China Glaze Treble Maker and finally China Glaze Highlight of my Summer.

VDSC_0020

I varied the placement of the dots on the nails so it wasn’t the same pattern on all the nails. I wish I had used some more pastel colors. The pink and purple where a little to muted or dark looking back. Remember to click by the other ladies.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 28 Saran wrap

Today’s theme is saran wrap. I really like the effect saran wrap gives. I have previously done a post using saran wrap in three different ways. My favorite way is dipping the saran wrap in polish and then sponging it on the nail. That way you can layer your colors.

VDSC_0962

I started with two coats of Alpine Snow. After letting it dry at crumbled up a piece of saran wrap and sponged on Revlon Lemon Meringue. I then went in with Cult Nails Feelin’ Froggy, Cult Nails Nakizzle Shizzle, Appeal4 Lavender Daffodil and finally Appeal4 Queen’s Lace. I let each round of polish dry before going in with the next color. I varied where on the nail I sponged on each color so no two nails turned out the same. I then went back in with some of the colors depending on what I felt like the nail needed.

VDSC_0969

I then used MoYou London Pro 06XL and Mundo de Uñas Black to stamp with. I  think this nail art is one of my favorites I have done for this challenge. The saran wrap ended up looking almost like watercolor and the different colors blended well into each other. I may try it again with the same color scheme but stamping with a white polish instead, just to see how that turns out.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 22 Family

Today’s theme is inspired by family. I did these nails back on February 1st, when the Super Bowl was played. My family all loves american football and our favorite team is New England Patriots. We stayed up all night watching the very exciting game and we even had the American signal so we could watch all the American commercials.

VDSC_0616

I ordered a custom plate NFL in a group buy from FigTreeStamps. I used OPI Alpine Snow on my index and pinky finger. I then stamped using China Glaze First Mate on my index and a England Perceval for the pinky. On my middle nail I have Cult Nails Dazed and on my ring finger OPI Coca Cola Red. Both nails are stamped with Depend White stamping polish.

VDSC_0625

Luckily the Patriots won in the very last-minute. I have seen the Patriots play live three times and I so want go again. The atmosphere surrounding the game is amazing. Back in 2010 when I saw them in Boston I bought a foam hand which I’m holding here and in the next photo.

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 7 Red

Today’s theme is red. In my head red is very much connected to roses. So I looked at different pictures of rose nail art on Google, and found this really pretty rose nail art by Sarah from Chalkboard Nails. I was really inspired by her pretty roses and placement, that I recreated it.

VDSC_0719

I started with three coats of Different Dimension Ready, Set, Snow, a white/grey scattered holographic creme polish. I then created the roses using China Glaze Hey Sailor, Cult Nails Quench and OPI Alpine Snow. I also mixed a drop of Hey Sailor and Alpine Snow to create a lighter pink to also highlight with. The base of the leaf is Essie Mojito Madness and the darker green is Cult Nails Flash.

VDSC_0725

I created the base of the rose with a large dotting tool, and the details with a fine detailing brush. I finished with a coat of Seche Vite. The larger roses are my favorites, because the got a more uneven edge making them look more like roses, where my smaller roses was more completely round.

Fancy Friday #98 – Untried

Happy friday. Todays theme is untried, so I grabbed a couple of untried polishes and an untried stamping plate. I created a skittlette and I really like it.

VDSC_0608

On my index and pinky I did three coats of Nubar Rockin the Garden, a pretty dusty blue with blue/green shimmer. On my thumb and middle I painted a coat of Cult Nails Faded and a coat of Cult Nails Disciplined. On top I stamped with Depend 262 and MoYou London Bridal 07 plate. On my ring finger I painted three coats of Different Dimension Pothos, a beautiful rose gold/silver flake polish.

VDSC_0614

Pothos is super shiny and reflective. I was inspired by Martha from ChitChatNails. She did a skittlette using Different Dimension Pothos, that I just love. You can see it right here. Click on the blue blob to see what the other did with untried.

Fancy Friday #92 – Blobbicure

Today we are doing blobbicures. I love how they look on other people, but my try today was a total nail fail. I think I wore this for all of 5 minutes, before taking it off and repainting my nails. It is quite rare that this happens to me, last time was the acid wash manicure, but since I have done all of the Fancy Friday challenges so far, so I’m not skipping a day 🙂

VDSC_0578

I don’t know what went wrong, I tried using thicker layers for the base as I went along, I did three nails on the other hand first to get the hang of the technique, I tried having more nail polish on the brush and less, I tried tilting my nails to get the polish to flow. I did work quite fast, but maybe not fast enough. I used Essie Bangle Jangle for the base, Cult Nails Flushed, China Glaze Nice Caboose! and Finger Paints Sparkle Top Coat for the blobs.

Click on the blue blob to see how the others did, I’m pretty sure they did better than me 🙂

Fancy Friday #78 – A tutorial

Today the task is to create a tutorial, so I made my very first video tutorial. It was a little bit difficult getting the right angle, so I could see what I was doing but at the same time not blocking the camera. I hope you like it.

All the colors I used are listed in the description box below the video. I used the standard chevrons from NailVinyls – you can purchase them right here. They are super easy to use and they have a ton of different shapes and sizes.

VDSC_0247

I was inspired by an envelope from NailVinyls that my latest order came in. The pattern was so fun and happy that I just had to recreate it on my nails. I really liked doing a video tutorial, it is a bit time-consuming, but I would like to do more.

VDSC_0248

Fancy Friday #75 – Party

Hello everybody, how are you doing? This Friday is all about partying. I’m actually going to a party tomorrow, but I won’t be wearing these nails.

VDSC_0192

I started with three coats of Essence – Where is the Party?, a purple/green duochrome. Then I sponged H&M – Roof Party, a hot pink and silver chunky glitter on my index and middle finger. On my ring finger and pinky I sponged Cult Nails – Walk of Shame, a gold and holographic glitter. I went for a little bit of a party theme with the polish colors, since “the walk of shame” is what sometimes happens after a party (although I never did that myself J I’m not completely over the moon for these nails, so this weekend I will be wearing Deborah Lippmann – Lost In Space, a navy almost texture glitter with holographic hexagons.

Fancy Friday #64 – Cloud Mani

Hello and happy friday. Today we are doing the cloud mani technique first thought out by Nailside. Nailside unfortunately doesn’t blog anymore, but her blog can be found right here if you want to check her very cool tape nail art out.

VCrop IMG_0825

I started with three coats of Cult Nails Scandalous, a sorbet orange jelly. It dried very shiny. Then I added the first row of clouds with Flormar 7, a metallic gold polish. After that I added the second row of clouds with Cult Nails Captivated, an orange jelly with glitter.

VCrop IMG_0830

The colors may have been a tad bit to close to each other to really tell the apart, but it was more obvious in real life than in these photos. If I try this technique out again I will choose some colors that stand a bit more out from each other. Click on the blue blob to check out the other ladies cloud manicure.
