Fancy Friday #167 – Recreate your first nail art

Happy Friday. Today we are recreating our first nail art. I chose the nail art I did for the very first Fancy Friday many many Fridays ago. I updated it a little bit, and I think it turned out so good.

Here is the original manicure, and just click here, to be taken to the original blogpost.

VDSC_0609

I have two coats of China Glaze First Mate on my index and pinky, and two studs. I switched the sides I placed them on. On my middle I have three coats of Barry M Sky Blue, because I destashed the Essence polish I used. Instead of the rhinestones I did a little stamping using MoYou London Pro XL14 and MoYou London White Knight. On my ring finger I have three coats of Kiko 294 Indigo and some round blue iridescent glequins from BornPrettyStore.

Fancy Friday #148 – Nimbus nail art

Happy Good Friday. I hope you had a good week and is enjoying the Easter break. Today we are doing Nimbus or Halo nail art. The original artist behind this technique is Sammy from The Nailasaurus. You can see the last time I did Nimbus nail art right here. It was in the same color scheme as this time, but that was not on purpose.

VDSC_0051

I did three coats of Appeal4 Out of this World on my thumb and index nail. On the other nails I started out with two coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme. On my pinky I topped that with one coat of Kiko 230 Sparkle Touch Rainbow Glitter. It is a little hard to see, but it is an iridescent glitter. For the Nimbus nails I used OPI Planks a Lot, Kiko 504 Pearly Glaze Pink, Different Dimension Aria, H&M Marsala Chai and Appeal4 Out of this World, and just layered them.

VDSC_0058

The last couple of days the sun have been shining, but of course it is raining the day I need to take photos, so the holographic polish on my index didn’t show up as well, so here is a flash photo to show the holographicness. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they did for today.

Fancy Friday #141 – Mardi Gras

Hello and happy Friday. We took a little break in the Fancy Friday group to renew our energy, but now we are back. In Denmark we have a tradition called Fastelavn  where kids dress up in costumes and go from door to door, like a Danish Halloween, but without the scary part. So since that falls on this sunday we decided for this to be our theme for this week.

VDSC_2031

The first thing I thought of was dressing up, which lead my brain to carnivals which in turn landed me on Mardi Gras. The colors of Mardi Gras is gold/yellow, green and purple, so I did a simple striping/fire works manicure with those three colors.

VDSC_2035

For the base I used three coats of Wet n Wild French White Creme, and free-handed the lines using a striping brush and Barry M Gold Foil for the gold, Wet n Wild Buffy the Violet Slayer for the purple and Kiko 531 Pearly Green Butterfly for the green. This is super simple and super fast to do, and it can be varied with different colors and finishes.

VDSC_2045

A couple of years ago I was in New Orleans, although not for Mardi Gras, but we brought home some Mardi Gras beads, so they had to be included in a photo with these nails, since they match so well. Remember to click by the other ladies to see what they did for today.

Fancy Friday #138 – Christmas baubles

Happy Friday. I had my last exam of the semester today, so now I’m on break until the end of January woohoo 🙂 The theme today is christmas decoration, and what is more christmas like than baubles? We are going to be decorating the three this weekend, which is one of my favorite things about christmas.

VDSC_1897

Today’s manicure is completely stolen from The Nail Network who did this manicure back in 2013. I started with three coats of a England Cathy, I could probably have stopped at two, but I felt like I could see my nail through the polish with two coats. I applied a topcoat on top since I would be using textured polish on top of that. The baubles are painted with different textured polishes and a small flat brush to get the right curve.

VDSC_1881

The bauble on the index is done with Barry M Countess, the middle is Kiko 457 Royal Blue, ringfinger is OPI Honey Ryder and the pinky is done with Kiko 458 Anthracite. The string and base is done with a small striper brush and OPI My Signature is “DC”

VDSC_1890

On my thumb I did the bauble in Kiko 454 Wine. I really like the difference in finish, and it was a super quick and simply manicure to done, so big thumbs up to Chelsea from The Nail Network for thinking of this. I’m sad she doesn’t really blog anymore, because her nail art was really good. Remember to click by to see what the other ladies have come up with.

God fredag.

Fancy Friday #130 – Texture gradient

Happy friday. Todays theme is texture gradient. The last time I did a texture gradient was back in April for the challenge. I looked through my untried texture polishes and found two that became my inspiration for todays nail art.

VDSC_1669

I started with three coats of OPI Diva of Geneva on my thumb, index and pinky nails, and two coats of the same polish on my middle and ring finger, just to have a base for the gradient. After letting that dry I applied liquid latex around my nails to protect my skin from the gradient. I used Kiko 454 Wine and Kiko 645 Burgundy for the gradient and sponged it on three times.

VDSC_1691

I looked through my stamping plates and found MoYou London Fashionista 07. I stamped using Barry M Gold Foil and my MoYou London Sticky XL Stamper. I didn’t quite get it centered on the nails, but I’m still working out how to stamp precisely on the nails. I left my pinky blank to create a skittlette. It really reminds me of fall and turning leaves. I love burgundy purples for fall. Click by the link in the bottom to see what the other ladies have come up with.

VDSC_1681

#WeekendOffNailArtChallenge – Day 10 / Fancy Friday #102 – Orange

Today’s theme is orange. I long time ago, a theme in Fancy Friday was sideway french – click here to see that. I still love that manicure. To not just do a plain swatch I decided to do a sideway french dotted manicure with orange shades.

VDSC_0728

I started with two coats of OPI Alpine Snow. I then added dots using two different sized dotting tools, even though the almost turned out the same size on the nail. I used OPI Toucan Do It If You Try, China Glaze Sun of a Peach, Kiko Apricot and Models Own Copper Pot to get a little sparkle.

VDSC_0731

I really liked how the sideway french dots looked. It was super easy to do, and a twist on the more classic dotted french tip. I’m not a huge fan of orange, but a little orange on a white base was quite nice.

Fancy Friday #88 – New Years Eve Waterfall Nails

Happy new year. I hope you all made it safely into the new year. I had a fun low-key night in high heels and a very glittery dress (I left glitter everywhere I walked and sat). Today is the first friday of 2015, and we are showing off our new years eve nails. I went with a simple waterfall nail.

VDSC_0440

I used a total of 11 polishes for this look. The black nails have a base of two coats of OPI Black Onyx. The waterfall stripes are made with Sally Hansen Liquid Gold, Showgirl Chic and Celeb City, Kiko 232, OPI My Voice Is A Little Norse and Spark de Triomphe. For the silver accent nail I used Orly Mirrorball as the base and OPI Black Onyx, China Glaze Some Like it Haute, Wet n Wild Tonight’s Gonna Be a Good Night and Deborah Lippmann Twilight Tone.

VDSC_0449

The look like fireworks or glittering garland. They matched my dress perfectly. Sammy from the Nailasaurus is the maker behind the waterfall nail art, so I big thank you to her for inventing the technique, because I love it and have used it a couple of times the past year. Click on the blue blob to see what the other ladies had on their nails as we rang in the new year.

Fancy Friday #76 – International Cake Decoration Day

I’m a huge cake fan. Well I’m actually a huge fan of anything sweet, except cake with fruit in it, although I don’t mind banana or certain berries. Give my something with chocolate and I’m happy. I also love baking and decorating, so today was right up my alley. I planned to do one stroke flowers, but half of the time they didn’t look good when I practiced, so instead I went to Carlos Bakery’s website, since I’m also a huge fan of Cake Boss.

I looked through the gallery, and came across this cake with leopard spots, glitter and bows, and thought it was just perfect and would look super cute as nail art. Also it has been over a year since I have done a leopard print on my nails.

VDSC_0213

I started out with two coats of Essie Mint Candy Apple, for the base of the cake. Then I did the spots in Kiko Light Misty Green with a dotting tool, and outlined the spots with OPI Black Onyx using a small nail art brush. For the glitter accent I used three coats of Gosh Frosted Silver, and did the bow again using Black Onyx and the small brush. I finished off all the nails with a coat of Poshe topcoat.

VDSC_0219

This mani is so cute, and really reminded me that I should do leopard spots more often, because they are so easy, but look really cool. This challenge, really made me want to bake a batch of fudge brownies, so I think that is going to happen tomorrow. I know there are some of the girls who did cupcakes this week, so click on the blue blob to see that.

Fancy Friday #56 – Inspired by a famous person

Hello everybody and happy friday. I’m feeling like myself again and can eat normally. I still have the stitches, but they will be gone on their own in about a week or two. Today we are getting inspired by celebrities. I have seen that some of the others have been inspired by clothing worn by a celebrity, but I decided to recreate nail art worn by a famous person.

I chose this manicure by Zooey Deschanel from New Girl, because it looked really cool, easy to do and spring like. This picture is from her Instagram account, and she wears a lot of nail art.

VDSC_0152

I didn’t go for the colors that were the closest because I wanted to use some of my untried polishes. The four colors I ended up using were all untried until now. I started out with three coats of Kiko Golden Tiffany, a mint with golden shimmer. I then did two lines crossing in the center of the nail with Rimmel Blueberry Whizz, a blue shimmer texture from the Sweetie Crush collection and a striper brush. Using the same brush I added a diagonal line with Finger Paint Sexy Sundress, a bright acid green and a small straight line. I did the gold stripes following the line of the blue with Gosh Frosted Gold. I finished up with a coat of HK Girl top coat.

The look was easy to do. You can change the colors, make the lines smaller or wider or use different finishes for a different look. Click on the blue blob to see what the other ladies have inspired by, I know a couple was inspired by Katy Perry, but their looks are totally different, which is so fun.

Fancy Friday #50 – Tribal

Hello. This week I’ve been working on an essay for school, but I managed to paint my nails. I was a little lost at first but after googling I found this really pretty design by Nailside, that I copied.

VDSC_0198

I used two coats of Gosh Frosted Silver on my index and pinky, two coats of Kiko 637 Turquoise, a textured creme on my middle finger and two coats of Kiko 344 Light Misty Green on my ring and thumb. I then used a striping brush, a small nail art brush and a dotting tool together with Essie No Place Like Chrome, to create the tribal design. On my left hand I kept the accent nails with the tribal but switched around the two textured polish to switch things up a bit.

Even though I’m not a huge fan of tribal nail art, this was simple enough for me, and it was easy and fast to do. Every time I’m wearing nails that are different, I’m reminded of how much fun and easy it is to create, so if you haven’t tried skittles or skittelettes our yet do it. Click on the blue blob in the bottom to see what the others have come up with for tribal nail art.
